My dad had a 1967 vw bug that he bought new, and continued to drive until I started to drive it to high school in the late 90s. Since then he’s had a couple honda accords. So I guess the bug wins.

I can’t imagine any carmaker trying to get away with something like this today”

I was in turn 15 grandstands and saw it happen. It was weird that so little was said about it at the time and right afterward, since it looked like obviously a big deal to me. Unsurprisingly they took quite a while to get her out of the car—it was just stopped by turn 16 for ages and the announcers never really said

Not really a purchase, but I regret my choice to take my dad’s ‘67 bug when he was done with it, thinking that I was going to work on restoring it. I don’t know anything about working on cars, and that was also right before I had my second kid. I wasted time, spent money on random parts, broke my friend’s ratchet, had

Woo, this was the first motorsports event I’ve ever seen live.

My teenage daughter said this the other day :-(

Perhaps it depends on where you live, but I can tell you that while I’m reasonably moneyed, the one time I’ve ever carried a credit card balance from month to month was during my (abortive) instrument training (in a steam-gauge 172, so nothing fancy). It is probably the most expensive activitie I’ve ever encountered.

I used to have a base mazda 5, which meant (IIRC) it was the only minivan you could get at the time in the US with a manual transmission.

When I was in high school one time I walked out to my car (my dad’s old ‘67 vw bug) after school, and there it was, right in the spot where I had parked it, but instead of being nose-in it was backed in.

No stall practice? You didn’t get your money’s worth. You have to go back again for that.

It seems unfair to Vandoorne, and also I guess to Williams. I mean, this is literally Vandoorne’s exact job, right? And Williams already suffers enough, I don’t see why they have to lose their best driver for no reason.

That was with Advantage. Now I have a Cherokee in a partnership at KSQL.

My initial training at KPAO (6 years ago, to be fair) wasn’t that much! For my initial never-sent-anyone-to-checkride-before instructor and a 152 it was only 2x :-)

In normal(-ish) person world, it makes sense if you go in with a number of other people. In my case I bought into a partnership with a Cherokee and pay $150 a month + ~$100 an hour wet. The airplane is nothing special, but it is at least (comparatively) affordable.

One time I got a new, as-yet-unreleased, super-secret device from my company to test and provide feedback on. My feedback: it smells bad. And the response was actually, oh shoot you’re right, we’ll use non-stinky glue in the future. So yeah, that’s a real thing.

Now playing

In terms of novel rides, I still like this one. And they could make it more extreme with just software changes, unlike most rides I guess.

The other day I (in my quiet-mobile) was stuck behind two women walking dogs down the middle of the street. I rolled down my window and said “excuse me,” and they turned and were quite amusingly surprised to see a car about five feet behind them.

Yesterday it was raining, and when I got to my Model 3 I really wanted to get inside quickly. I pulled the handle and.... nothing. I took my phone out of my pocket and unlocked it (it got rain on it).... nothing. I turned bluetooth on and off, nothing, waited a little more... finally the door opened.

I think it was basically the first time I drove on real roads. Trying to do a hill start in a manual was difficult and frustration-inducing, but wasn’t terrifying until another car came up behind me. Then each failed attempt to start brought me closer and closer to them, until I just got out of the car so my mom could

Yeah. I want to know what they originally said about Skyrim... is there any way to do that? I’m assuming not :-/
