Shorthand on my part using common vernacular. A non-malicious collision generally doesn’t warrant a lawsuit and or settlement outside of obvious property and health damages.

Commercial drivers need insurance, so likely a truck driver would have it, but you are (unfortunately) correct for regular folk.

*Looks at my own tech stock portfolio*

Oh in that case I changed my mind and am not enjoying it at all.

Kurt Sutter of “Sons of Anarchy” fame said people would come up to him almost every day claiming he ripped off their idea, just because everyone and their mother wanted to do a show about a motorcycle gang. He just did one that people liked and that was popular. The similarities to Cheers in this case seem pretty

My first car had a foot-operated high-beam button. It was novel and all, but the thing about the foot well is it is a dirty place. That button jammed all the time and would really take some work to actuate.

Fair enough point. From a general discourse perspective I think it’s important to be “fair” but from the perspective of a solution it’s a different story.

I understand the point but it’s a little too dismissive for me. If we haven’t reached the point where we can program a computer to differentiate between a pedestrian about to run in front of the vehicle vs “in another lane,” these cars have no place on the road. I think that’s a pretty low line.

It’s tough to assign 100% fault to anyone. The victim definitely did something stupid — the epidemic of people walking in front of moving vehicles assuming they will stop is bound to end badly in some cases. But the point of automated cars is that they don’t “stop paying attention” so the car software (or hardware)

How does what you pay compare to the average? Presumably the prices are based on averages.... There are lots of bad drivers out there jacking up average cost, in any country.

Grandma?

Halfway through this story I knew what was coming and still cringed at the end.

I think the type of people who would criticize “Mr Fancy Car” would be more likely to hate you knowing you got it for free from daddy than if you had “earned” it. Either way, who cares what other people think?

Sassy.

Counter point - population control.

Can I eat in my own car? Yes. Can I eat in someone else’s car, or can someone else eat in mine? Absolutely not.

Southwest is a whole different story. I’ll shove an old lady down a stairway to get at the front of that line ;)

Look, do whatever you want. Airlines have never lost my bag, and I value not being in physical discomfort over 5 minutes waiting at a carousel. You shoudl be thanking me, more overhead room for you.

Who said new? If you can’t afford a car payment why would you buy a brand new car?
