Great if you need to wake up exactly when sunrise happens. Little tough in the winter for most people, at the very least. (Saying that, I still find it hard to justify the price of these)

Or it’s jsut one of those intersections where you know you’ll never make it unless you “Fail to yield” or run the red at the end. It’s not the safest thing to do, and it’s in theory against the rules, but given the three options (running a red light, sitting through 6 light cycles, or gunning it on the green) I’m

I admit here and now to having been the angry guy before. NOt really in quite a few years, but I look back at embarrassment at the childish things I did and said in fits of rage behind the wheel in my younger days (not young enough to be excusable). I still get angry driving — you’d have to be braindead not to — but I

The Connecticut one was particularly mediocre. Left turn on a green light as soon as the light turns green is standard operating procedure at some lights.

So I watch the show “The Amazing Race,” and a few times they’ve gone to Japan and had to drive. Do they have a special exemption because they’re a type of game show (I know they LOVE game shows and reality shows in Japan)? Because there’s no way some of those contestants would pass any test, let alone a Japanese one.

Pretty much nailed it. It’s largely a function of having to deal with the worst of the worst as far as “customers,” day in and day out, coupled with ZERO motivation to do anything well.

I swear my written driving test was at least 60% questions about how far you are allowed to park from things. Corners, hydrants, driveways. Really not the most important things to ask.

That’s just being cynical and afraid of change. Cars today are objectively far more reliable than older cars. Your average car from 2000 is in far better shape in 2015 than an average car from 1980 was in 1995, or any other 15-year span. Will your silly touchscreen work in 10 years? Maybe not, but the basic things tha

That is an oddly sincere response. My comment was mostly in jest since the cars I had “problems” with were 20-30 years old, of COURSE some of the buttons and gauges were starting to go. I imagine the touchscreen that your Android Autos of the world run on will not last 20 years, so of course your point is still valid.

As someone who had a LOT of those types of cars throughout the years, I would NOT call most of those gauges, buttons OR knobs “reliable.”

Same for NH. No seatbelt law (only state left!) or helmet law or mandatory insurance, but yes inspections.

Understandable. I generally just push the report button when I see something, and then wait until the next time I’m stopped (at a light, in traffic) to actually finish the process of saying what it is I saw. Crowdsourced data on traffic incidents is immensely useful for people who commute, but I do hope they find a

Ha! I also suspect they’re trying to keep the whole “reporting police traps” thing away from their brand. The cops have more than once tried to shut down Waze for that. I know Google owns Waze, but I imagine if they slapped their name on it more blatantly the backlash would be bigger from LEOs.

Waze as an app is kind of annoying / clunky to me. If Google Maps would just add the ability to report incidents I would happily switch. It’s funny, they obviously see the utility in reporting incidents, since all of the incidents on Google Maps are reported via Waze, but they just haven’t added that functionality yet.

That’s an insane accident. Glad you guys both made it out OK.

Wait... did the car you got trapped in have gullwing doors? Generally if you’re upside down your doors are probably not opening. I mean... I guess with gullwings your doors are DEFINITELY not opening, but...

I don’t have a dishwasher but in general I agree, glass is so much better to clean.

Given what I’ve heard of Virginia traffic laws, you’re lucky the penalty isn’t castration or hanging.

Yeah it’s kind of my Zen way to start the day. If I had kids I’m sure I’d think differently though — even when we have get-togethers and there’s a LOT of dishes, even I sometimes long for a one-button solution :) But I just get so frustrated based on my experiences with them.

I have and love the Pyrex stuff but if you’re short on space they’re a little tough to store since they don’t stack too well.
