I guess it depends on whether the benefit from vitamin C is coming from ascorbic acid (which can be synthesized*) or something else in the vitamin C complex. Key hint that the C in your vitamin pill is from citrus: ‘bioflavonoids’.

Maybe the little dog can whistle? As in “counter dog whistle politics with a whistling dog.”

Bingo! That said, I’ll wear mock turtleneck shirts with a crew-neck sweater over it. I roll the mock collar down so I can’t really feel it but it keeps the wool off my neck. Being both tall-ish and long in the torso, I favor Duluth Trading ‘longtail’ mock turtlenecks. ($30) Made for construction workers, so super

How expensive is electricity there? There’s a lot of interesting things going on with hydroponic growing indoors with plant-specific LED light. I ran across an interesting summary on wired - but can’t find it now.

As I expect you know, real arctic wear is sized “terribly big” as they are expecting you to wear layers underneath. Carhart arctic gear (which is pretty good for warmth) is sized this way.

Yep, coyote fur. When used as a snorkel hood edging, it breaks the wind to your face, lessening the chance of frostbite - and it doesn’t ‘ice up’ with your breath the way synthetic fur does.

I wore Barbour motorcycling gear for many years before I switched to AeroStitch. I’ve been looking at their field coats - pretty surprised at the current prices. But their waxed cotton, IMO, is way better than goretex (AS gear is GT, but abrasion resistance - as in sliding on the ground at speed - is much better).

order a runoff or—in the most extreme circumstance—declare the election invalid and order a new election.

We have one - and mostly don’t use it for anything but dishes and flatware. It’s ‘builder’s grade’ (as cheap as they get), and came with the house. 25 years old and still works fine, but very, very loud. And we’re open plan. I should probably spend the $500-1000 to get a good replacement unit, but no hurry on that...

So long - and thanks for all the fish!

I’ve been a real proponent of applying a heavy coat of kosher salt, then letting the bird (I mostly do this with chickens) sit in the fridge overnight.

Those plastic things that hold the legs in go straight into the trash, along with the pop-up gadget.

I’m hoping we’ve learned a lesson from the last one: let the red states leave.

I’ve looked at the surging seas website (nice site - thanks!). I find it interesting that Florida doesn’t entirely disappear even with a 10 ft sea level rise. It looks amazingly flat there, but I guess that’s just appearance and that it rises gradually.

  • Don’t run an attic fan—it may cool off the attic, but it will suck cool air right out of your house.

Of course the Republicans are upset. They stole the election fair and square using their usual dirty tricks (e.g. vote suppression.lying about their records)

She ruled as king, not queen (gendered nouns). ‘Pharaoh’ meant ‘great house’ and so was used to refer to the king, much the way we use ‘white house’ to refer to the president.

It’s pretty unusual for a recount to change a result, so don’t get your hopes up...

Probably not. You need a lot more air than there is propellant in a can. Sounds like you’ve never used an air gun. The one I use has a ring with holes around the nozzle, which brings along yet more air (using air entrainment, the same thing that makes your shower curtains pull in when you run the shower). I have a

Sounds like the Energica bikes. Energica is an Italian comapny making electric sportbikes. Here’s a youtube video of their ‘standard’.
