Agreed. And if you’re Black, it’s way worse. Your family suffered under redlining so there’s nobody to make a personal loan to you of some of the down payment. And with the CFPB gutted, it looks like redlining might make a comeback. :-(
Boomer here. Yeah, it was mostly boomers (or older) voting, wasn’t it?
I’m a little surprised that my state (MA) has an existing anti-abortion law. I suspect it hasn’t been overturned because there hasn’t been a need.
I’ll ask my state senator about it at the next get-together. Time to turn this into an election issue at the state level.
Were there corner workers?
Making bread can be as easy as dumping ingredients into a tub, then deciding when you want it go be done - but that takes a bread machine. I see bread machines fairly often in thrift stores, so if you find the time commitment daunting maybe try one of those. I make it overnight, so warm bread in the morning.
Must have been a pricing mistake - it’s now $9.

Wanting to reduce our mercury intake, I make salmon salad sandwiches on the regular (just like tuna salad, but with pink salmon). It’s better if you remove skin and add a bit of lemon juice. Eating fish from a well managed fishery is a plus.
Putting children in cages is a “little expanded margin of hellishness”?
The point is exactly the same as the one in ending DACA and ending TPS status for a lot of hard working people: Make the Dems agree to a radical hard line immigration policy and fund “the wall”.
Seems pretty clear.
I’m not a super hops fan. Anybody know if there’s a brut that doesn’t have so much hops in it that it’ll survive the sailing voyage to India? Hoping for something smoky and dark but not sweet at all...
Had a discussion with someone at the gas pumps. He was convinced that immigrants were coming here to be supported by the government and “if you don’t want your kids taken away, don’t come here illegally”.
Well, ordinary people can do extraordinarily good things, too. You always hope kids tend more in that direction, and do what you can to encourage them when they do.
You might want to read Hitler’s Willing Executioners. TLDR: ordinary people are capable of monstrous behavior. Also check out the Milgram experiment. TLDR: people suck, when they’re told to be assholes, they’ll do that
Actually, not so much internment camps as extermination.
Image posting via URI seems nonfunctional today, but Arbeit Macht Frei.
First bit of French I ever learned: “Deux pressions, s’il vous plait.” (two draught beers, please).
Or call it a pudding...
Particularly as you get up into “the County”.
