Vox has an interesting segment on youtube explaining KC’s methods: she listens carefully for anything, anything in a question she can go off tangent on and answer a question she wants to answer - not the question she was asked.

Am I really the only one who tastes a difference between table salt and kosher? Or between kosher and Himalayan or grey? My sense of smell sucks; maybe that’s part of it?
Sadly, in high humidity, salt mills tend to clog.
I think the sentiment is simply that pepper-bought-already-ground is probably stale (or will be soon) and less than optimal compared with newly ground.
Diatomaceous earth is pretty effective. It’s a powder you ‘puff’ into crevices, etc. If you get ‘food grade’, it’s only poisonous in the sense that inhaling it is bad for your lungs (lots of sharp little bits, which is how it kills insects). Not at all harmful if you eat it.
I got into a conversation about suicide-by-train with a conductor. Turns out it had happened to him while working as an engineer (driving the big bus). He was traumatized, company offered him the chance to switch positions and he took it. According to him it was less money, less job security, worse hours - but he took…
I’ve only had the NZ version, which I liked quite a bit. How are they different?

air travel is a monstrous headache when you’re transporting camera gear.
Thanks! Yes I am in the Boston area - looks perfect.
My dad loved Velveeta. His mom used to send it to him* in the army (he was in recon, driving a scout car in France). He was the cook for his unit (“Nobody else could cook worth a damn, so I did it.”). He’d go on about how everybody got happy when the Velveeta arrived. They had better rations than the guys on foot, but…

Looks pretty wonderful!
pink peppercorns are a member of the cashew family, which is horrible news for those of you with tree nut allergies.
I’m in New England. We have issues with raptors as well. We put deer netting across the top of the chickens’ fenced in area after a red-tailed hawk killed a chicken. We also let the chickens out to roam around a peck at stuff. We’ve never had a raptor issue while they’re out. I think it’s more that they’re not stuck…
When I was growing up, we had a couple of ducks. We also had 2 springer spaniels. Like the lab in the story, a springer is a ‘soft-mouth’ retriever; these dogs were trained as hunting dogs.
I guess I live in a bubble too. Not a single Trump voter. Not even 100% sure I’ve ever spoken with one.
Sounds like you need new friends...
My state (MA) has recently announced that kids from PR can go to state colleges at state-resident rates, which is significantly cheaper than for kids from out of state.
Want to thank all the Black people who voted Moore out? Donate to Eric Holder’s National Democratic Redistricting Committee. They’re trying to eliminate voter suppression, which primarily is directed at Black people.
