The resemblance between the US and the latter Roman Republic is uncanny (particularly in our relations with our network of allies - the “American Empire”) - and this is not a new thing. I’ve been remarking on it for the last twenty years, wondering who will be out Gracci brothers or our Sulla. I think we’ve found

I can’t think of a Korean dish that I don’t like.

If that upheaval includes ditching the Electoral College, I’m fine with it.

And then carry that child to term.

You’d have better luck asking the tide to stop.

I bounced off one while I was hustling down Mt Washington (trying to get down before full dark). I guess I wasn’t seen as a threat as the moose just looked at me, then ambled off. No bite, no kick. They don’t have lower teeth in the front, BTW.

My folks had a place in NW Maine. Lots of moose. The thing about moose is that they don’t freeze in your headlights like deer do - and they’re tall enough that if you were to hit one, they’d come right through your windshield, and big enough that that would probably be fatal for both of you. I’m pretty constantly on

If you’re stacking exposures in photoshop (or lightroom) just get a copy of the Nik plugins - they’re being given away for free by Google (who bought Nik some while back). Just be sure to opt for ‘subtle’ or ‘normal’ so your image is at least somewhat believable. BTW, if you’re got a recent-ish Nikon, you can set it

Or season properly with a drying oil and you can store it as long as you like. The oil polymerizes with the top surface of the CI, so it’s more of a kind of plastic than an oil.

I have one that size. Yeah, it takes some forearm strength. Totally the thing to use if you’re going to get it sizzling hot in the oven and then sear something - big enough that there’s no crowding in the pan, cause you might end up not searing but steaming. I think a big CI griddle in the oven might be better, but

If you’re going to get enamel over cast iron, why not enamel over aluminum or even copper? The point of bare CI is that marvelous surface. The downside of CI is that it sucks at conducting heat (so an 18" pan is pretty bad on a smaller-diameter gas burner) Why put up with poor heat conductivity without that surface?

Clear enough. That’s why the user-permission dance with NAS.

For Windows, there’s Veeam endpoint backup. It’s free and really good. I’ve done bare metal restores with it - and retrieving a previous day’s version of files or a folders is super easy. If you’ve got a laptop (or otherwise don’t have NAS) it can recognize that you’ve attached a backup drive.

So, maybe a goodly number of those ‘deleted emails’ that the right keeps going on about are Anthony Weiner dick pics? I’d have hit ‘delete’, too. I hope the right ends up with plenty of these pics as they may annoy the man with small hands.

IMO with the possible exception of Romney, they’re decent human beings - that I disagree with politically. Nonetheless, I’d be glad to hoist a brew with Charlie or GHW.

I think it’s a biker term.

Given that it’s one vote per person, a median would be more appropriate than mean...

Ditto Northern-border states - for the same reason.

I’ve been doing this in PS for... at least a couple of decades. I’d originally thought that this was the whole point of having layers and masking

Not really. It’s just going to get a replicated lookup tables every so often, which doesn’t really leak much information (other than that you’re running a DNS server). I do it because I’m concerned with DNS poisoning - but that’s a different issue.
