You're right, it's not automatically bigoted, but the way it is asked often makes it clear what the OP's feelings are.
Go to the message boards for any actor and I guarantee there will be threads for at least one, if not all three, of the following topics:
-Is X gay?
-What is X's ethnicity?
-X looks just like Y!
The responses to the first two topics will be fifty per cent wild guesses and barely disguised bigotry of one form or another…
Killed by her uterus, the fate of so many women in fiction…
I think the performances are very much created by the students, hence they are about things that teenagers think are either deep, cool or both. Lots of ‘lets solve racism with a hug!’ or ‘hey, vampires are great!’ kinda stories.
Get off my lawn! And join me (and your parents) on the lawn of the Music Bowl for a great concert!
Lots of dates already sold out: http://www.nickcave.com/live/
They're touring North America in June, go if you can, 100% worth it. And hey, look, video!
Is it online? I'll have to wait till tomorrow anyway, but now I am full of anticipation.
Excited for Black Sails too, I rewatched S2 and S3 recently in preparation. I wish AVC still covered it, but in fairness, there was a huge leap in quality from S1 to S2.
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, live in Melbourne! Really great show, so good that I considered going again tonight but ultimately couldn't really make that work.
I really like the end of the Drones song Sixteen Straws - it's a long, dirge-like song with no chorus, but just a repetitive depressing melody as the singer tells the story of his endless trials us a convict - lashings and murder and starvation, then an attempt at escape, and then '…that's when The Royal Marines…
Very similar story with my dad - retired from a job that was a passion; no hobbies to keep him occupied, so his tendency to drink too much flourished into a full-time occupation. I honestly think retiring killed him.
Here’s something that I regularly watch when I need a smile. It’s a clip from Australian musical quiz show Spicks and Specks - the segment involves guessing songs played in a different style - here, they are being played by Barry Morgan from the World of Organs. Basically, it’s all about the infectious grins.
I'm a bit of a cynic, so The Ending Is Just The Beginning Repeating.
I like in the caravan episode when he's sitting talking to Ted and then just suddenly screams 'He saw the whole of the moon!' to get the youth group singing again.
I first knew Norton as the most annoying youth group leader ever on Father Ted. His solo performance of Bohemian Rhapsody (about 0.20 in the video) is superb.
Mine is the very embarassing Eric Robertson's Piano Hits, but I get to pass the blame for this onto my big brother, so it all works out in the end.
I think that would have pushed the de-aging software to its limits.
