Julian called Stefan 'son' during their fight, and for a moment I thought the show was actually going to go there and make him somehow the Salvatores' actual father. He can't be - he's been a vampire for centuries - but given this show, there was definitely a moment when I believed it.

I think that's going to become relevant - Julian has one of those cross-shaped scars we keep getting hints about, so I'm guessing it's from the sword of whoever trapped the vampire souls in the phoenix stone.

Don't spoil Perd for me, that's cruel.

Nice take, I like it.

Saw They Might Be Giants last night in Melbourne. Great concert, lots of fun. They played Fingertips, which just about made my year.

I always want to like Enzo. He had a few great moments early on that sold me on him (like, when he and Caroline go looking for doppelTom, and he deadpans to just-awakened Tom that they are angels), and so I keep hoping that he can become a great character. Sadly I think the larger weight of bad decisions for that

I don't know about other tv cross-overs that meet the conditions here, but it sort of reminds me of Michael Keaton showing up as the same character in both Jackie Brown and Out of Sight - properties linked by both taking place in the Elmore-Leonard-iverse, but made by completely different creative teams and corporate

I kept expecting some Randy-like sweet but dumbness.

With a little dismissive hand gesture to cap it off.

I just made the Rita (Hayworth)/Gilda connection tonight. Now I just need to know if she's decent.

I wouldn't have spotted him, it was so brief, only know because I saw it mentioned somewhere (these reviews, maybe even?).

Alex's dad was played by Johnathan Schaech. Either he has some major debts and is reduced to non-speaking bit parts, or something more is happening there.

I was certain that Pirate Master was cancelled because a contestant killed themselves, so I just googled 'reality show suicide', and now I hate myself (and I was wrong as well).

That makes so much sense. Also, mention of his name still causes my skin to crawl, so thanks for that.

I had already seen Spaceballs before Alien, probably one of the reasons I already knew what was coming. It also gets away with being funny rather than scary because it's not in the middle of one of the tensest films of all times.

How creepy was that final shot of Jo just barely 'alive' on the morgue table? Jodi-Lyn Keefe has been so great in that role.

Alien - knowing the chestburster scene was coming, I couldn't take the dread.

And yet Laurel thought it a good idea to ambush him with his daughter's reanimated corpse. That's our Laurel!

Just finished it, was very decent, I am forced to eat my words! Old school monster of the week, fair amount of sentimentality, all rather well done.
