See I kind of agree and disagree with you.

I’m rusty on his history, but I think I remember a Frank Miller Weapon X storyline that him coming up with it when he was pretty much just a crazy man.

I pretty much answered it in some comments below, but basically, Logan probably has never felt that the title ‘Wolverine’ is one that he designed to be passed down. It’s tied to a very violent, bloody past filled with a lot of sad stories. There’s plenty of things he’s done with that name that he can be proud of, but

Am I alone in thinking the mask looks weird on her? I feel like longer hair doesn’t compliment the mask well.

Very true. Logan doesn’t see Wolverine as a mantle. If anything it’s more of a curse. He’s done great things under that name, but it was never something he desired to be passed down.

I guess we’ll see. I doubt they’d keep Logan and OML together in the same universe. I think there’s some good storytelling opportunities with OML surrounded by all of the X-Men he once killed, but I don’t really know where X-23’s story is going to go. A lot of Marvel’s decisions lately have been pretty gimmicky.

My point is that Wolverine isn’t an archetype character that gets passed down like Batman. DC kind of owns the whole idea of legacy characters and they handle them pretty well. DC built their heroes around the idea that their respective universes would always need one of them around.

Yeah I see what you mean. That’s pretty much what made DA so great. The fact that that’s actually a possibility now with the Sony/Marvel deal is very exciting.

My point is, Logan never struck me as being proud of his legacy as Wolverine. He’s done plenty of things to be proud of, but the name Wolverine implies a lot of violence, death and sorrow. Not something I think he’d be happy to pass down to a new generation.

I’m not really sure I’d count DA. Daken only agreed to it because Norman offered him stability. He saw it as more of an opportunity to “stick it to the old man” as it were. That pretty much goes for all the DAs really. Plus you know, Norman went mad and Sentry killed everything.

Disregarding the gender swap and my desire to simply see a new X-23 series, Wolverine is the one character who would rather let that name die than have someone else pick up the mantle. If there was even a mantle to pass in the first place.

Enlighten me!

The reason I was so excited about this movie in the first place is because I’ve always believed that the fans of star wars know how to do star wars way better than George Lucas. And JJ Abrams is a huge fan. Any Star Wars novel or comic book I’ve read all are miles above anything Lucas did in terms of characterization.

You’re absolutely right! I read all those X-books in tandem so I mixed the two storylines together. My bad. If I remember right it was pre-Black Vortex but post AvX.

The problem with citing any kind of example like these is that anybody looking to define Bobby’s sexuality could interpret those scenes however they wanted to. No one really wins here. If the argument is that Bobby is gay, then the scene with Cloud could be interpreted as him further repressing his own feelings

Thought bubbles? Asides with other characters of the same gender that hint at them being gay? America Chavez was pretty ambiguous for a while until they recently defined her as being either lesbian or bi. Honestly, that’s a perfect example right there. Chavez had never really been depicted as being either straight or

They do, but I think they’re more concerned with letting their writers tell the stories they want to tell and that’s just fine with me. Justice League and JLA all take place pre-Endgame, it’s just not as defined as most people would like.

HEY-O!!

Of course I’m aware, but this isn’t an example of that. Bobby, even by Bendis himself, has never been written as a closet homosexual before. In fact both main iterations of him (616 and Ultimate) have been portrayed as straight.

You’re not wrong, but there have been some real gems throughout. Yeah, Kitty is a substitute Star-Lord for the time being because Peter was elected president of Spartax. Ben Grimm is on the team now as well. I’m hoping it plays out nice.
