It heavily depends on what brand you have, which Android veriosn, and if you're going to root the phone. Here are my most essential apps:

I recommend pure honesty: "Sorry man, but I really gotta grade those papers now." Most of the times I hear a mumbled "Oh, I should do that, too." or something like that and off (s)he goes.

Polaris Office is fantastic but right now it's OEM only and therefore not available in the Market. Sad but true.

You could let Thom Yorke do that ...

The only reason why MS Word wins for me is because of the Ribbon. I know that a lot of people out there hate it but for me it may be the best UI improvement for MS Office products in years.

Same here. It doesn't even support the country I live in but I joined anyway. I think I suffer from Google closed beta addiction. Put a "closed beta" stamp on anything G and I'll take two.

Chrome dropped the support for vertical tabs on the left side somewhere around version 13. Apparently too few are using it to keep alive. Extensions can't do it because they are not allowed to change the UI like in Firefox.

Seems like I am doing it right: "Hi. We have no records on you. Well, you are in the clear."

For me it would be "synergy"/"synergetic" and mixing up "implement" and "integrate".

I don't really understand what it does or how I would benefit from it but it's new and it's from Google so I have to see it! Sadly the invite link already expired ...

Exactly the same happened here. It's always like "So you say, we shouldn't protect our children? How dare you!" It's the worst and not only it doesn't help those children but actually uses the victims as a means to get more control over the internet. The case is only slightly different for piracy: there are large

You can have a look at the next ten apps (includig ADWLauncher EX) at [www.androidpolice.com] . AndroidPolice publishes the ten apps a day one day early.

SwiftKeyX is part of the 10 billion apps celebration: 10 apps for 10 days for 10 cents. ADW Launcher EX and a few others are also expected to be part of the celebration (so check the market daily for the next few days).

First of all: thank you for taking the time to write such a long answer! Seriously, that's just great.

- 1 for "it is impossible not to collect this data." That's simply not true. You may be right for lots of services like SMS, MMS or phone and everyone should be aware of that (and I think a lot of people are). But everything with client-side encryption should still be safe. Also SSL encrypted connections can't usually

Somehow I get the feeling that this name kind of keeps people from reading my post ... you're certainly not the first to admit that ;-).

Maybe it's an extension going wild? My Firefox 8 uses way less RAM with way more tabs opened than Chrome (Dev Channel Release 14.something).

Just sayin' ...

I am a teacher and during tests my pupils are allowed to chew gum. It helps them concentrate - at least many of them claim it does and even if it's a placebo it still works. During normal lessons it is kind of gross because a frightening lot of them chew like cows ... sometimes it's a bit gross to look into 15 open

I have two ways to avoid those situations:
