Same worries here. I tried to update my Tomato router a few days ago but no stable build available. DD-WRT offers one but I don't want to switch. My ISP is still on IPv4 but I want to be prepared for when they move to v6.

@jtly: Why would you switch OSes? Just install / Pro on your new laptop and leave it on the old one, too. I know that you're allowed to have only one install of your student version but seriously: who cares? You have two paid versions of Windows 7 and that's two more than a lot of people. Maybe you'll have to activate

Books.

AdFree for Android makes me ... well, adfree. No clicking on ads possible.

Happy birthday, Lifehacker!

@theaceplaya: That's when we play the xda-devs card and win the game by installing an AOSP ROM.

Now playing

I am getting one of these for sure! It's so fluffy I'm gonna die!

@icefyre: Switch to "English - US" instead. I am German and I use Gmail in US-English only just to get all the new goodies. For you it won't be that much of a difference.

The problem is SEO itself - there is no positive version of it. SEO is a nice word for search engine manipulation, no matter if the ones doing it are the good or the bad guys.

@ImSpartacus: +1! I love the ribbon. It's one of the reasons I still use MS Office even though I have to pay for it (a 50 Euros student version but still). I really hope LibreOffice adds something like that - as an option maybe because a lot of people seem to hate the ribbon.

A word of warning: on my rooted Desire the default HTC lockscreen interfered with WL pretty bad sometimes. I had to unlock the phone twice or WL didn't even show up at all - especially when locking and unlocking the phone within a few seconds (but had nothing to do with the 5-sec-rule). Most of the time it worked

@GunslingerSTKC: quite a few countries in Europe (maybe in the whole world?) name numbers larger than a million differently. It's million, milliard, billion, billiard, trillion, trilliard, etc. instead of million, billion, trillion, quadrillion, quintillion, septillion, etc. for the same numbers.

@1. Thanks for the new meme, Mr Redmond.

@Jacobm001: What?!? For my Desire the official Froyo update came months ago. Still too late as I got root by then and was already runing Froyo.

The idea is great but the app lacks a few important features. Maybe the dev should read [lifehacker.com] again. Most annoying: no sync and no interaction with other apps. Give me a button or at least a "send to"-option in Gmail and everything's quite a bit better.

@Gilliam: then use 0.0.0.0 or 127.0.0.1:1234 and you're good - the latter might only work if you don't use IIS which seems to hijack every port available (at least the last one I had to use). But if your (e.g.) Apache only listens on :80 everything should be fine.

Whatever you learn don't forget to learn the basics. E.g. don't rely on a database layer if you don't know SQL. More sooner than later you'll get a result set you didn't expect and you won't know why. And learn what parameter passing by reference and by value means and why some strings are dynamic and some static.

@n8thagr8: canvas version? you mean like this: [mail.google.com] ? I hope it suits your needs better than the default version. Copy/pasting still is really annoying though ...
