I really don’t get how NDAs don’t have exceptions for illegal behavior like this. Is it not making you an accessory to a crime if you’re prohibited from sharing knowledge of a crime with the public or police?

You could hire a really famous lawyer who takes on cases for abused women and women who are standing up to powerful men. I bet there’s one who does pro bono work.

But the NDA will have done its nefarious work, because normal people can’t afford the cost of getting sued.

There’s no civil NDA that can keep you from reporting or seeking charges for illegal activity. You’ll probably get sued, of course - lawyers can attempt to sue for anything at any time - but it’ll get thrown out the minute the judge is told that the information is related to an active criminal case.

If he was breaking the law, the NDA doesn’t hold. And he was breaking the damn law, even if it is a law barely followed.
