I will rarely turn away from a game because of theme, but I feel that a well-integrated theme can really push a game over the top. Of course, Ra is a game I rate a 10 and that theme has nothing to do with the actual game play. And yes, give it a try. Works great for 3, 4 or 5 but I wouldn't recommend it for two.

I'm playing in a basketball tournament this weekend with other people in the US and Canada who are of Latvian descent. So probably no video or board games this weekend unless I take my laptop along and play some FTL. Come to think of it, that sounds pretty good. FTL is my answer.

I'm not sure why since my wife likes reading sci-fi, but she HATES space themed games. Although when she finally tried one when a friend pushed her into one, she really liked it (Alien Frontiers). Alas.

Has anyone played both Eldritch and Arkham? Are they really the same game but with different maps? That is the conclusion I drew when seeing some other folks play. It should be noted they also loved it.

Sounds like two solid entries from Supergiant. Can't wait to get my hands on this.

Although I know nothing about Infamous 2: Second Son, I'm excited for the return of Derrick to the Digest. Did he have to cover his own bill to eat tomorrow's nut butter?

Now I'm really curious how tall all the writers are. I just assumed Sam Barsanti was the tallest of the lot.

The Green Screen app for an iPad is incredibly simple to use.

Interesting.

Coincidentally, I've been meaning to play that games since it first came out as an avowed lover of Sam and Max Hit the Road and Day of the Tentacle.

Did you discuss openly before hand? If not, I'm amazed your group came to that conclusion over one night.

I've been curious to try Mascarade after reading about it at Essen. It sounded a little too similar to Citadels, which I already have.

I would personally be happy if the Raps can beat Brooklyn. I can't explain why I feel this way, but I would love it if Jason Kidd fails miserably as a coach.

Color me intrigued. If Vlaada is reading our comment thread - and I assume he is - please make this public!

I love games where you aren't a specific color, but sometimes all of the colors. That could make a fun inventory. Off the top of my head that could include:

It definitely can work well as an asynchronous game, a la Through the Ages. I'd love to see it get a nice port to an online game playing site for that reason.

YES PLEASE

My weekend gaming will hopefully include the following:

Through the Desert is such an underrated Knizia game. All those pastel camels make me want to eat Easter candy though.

I played with a friend in the room. Between the two of us building new ideas of one another, we never used a walkthrough.
