My undergraduate thesis was about medieval scientist/philospher/alchemist/monk Roger Bacon and how each successive generation viewed him through different prisms that made him out to be the best reflection of what that generation aspired to be. I'll assume no one is interested in reading it.

Seconded on FTL. Still working to unlock all the ships (c'mon Mantis Homeworlds, generate for me!) and get my first defeat of the Flagship.

You could give Dear Esther a try. That's just wandering around and exploring an island as you get bits of story.

NBA Playoffs are the best playoffs in my opinion. My team (Timberwovles) didn't make it again, but I love that the better team typically wins. A lot of people don't like it for that reason, but it's always fun to see the best at their sport playing their hardest. Also, it appears to be a good time to be a Portland fan

For real. GLOG 1.0 commenters taking over. Kudos to you, Nick.

This makes so much sense. Thanks for the tip!

I also believe Double Dash is best of all the carts for the following reasons: 1) in addition to having different stats, each character also had individualized special items, 2) best track design (see: Sherbert Land, Mushroom City) and 3) didn't include those stupid, stupid bikes like they have in the Wii version

What was your winning strategy? I'm still hoping to beat it. I can consistently get to the point where I'm fighting the flagship and it has all the drones, but even with knocking the drone room out it still sends like 6 at time at me.

Seconded. Such a nice blend of elements to generate excitment.

That is some grade A writing and reporting from Mr. John Teti.

When people ask "what is your favorite song?" Only in Dreams is my answer. It has been since 1994.

That short story is so good. Borges forever.

I did not put that together but now that you mention it I can't unsee it.

Perhaps a timely review from a trusted source can solve this conundrum!

I rarely cross train my folks except out of necessity. I'm also very bad at FTL, so perhaps they go hand in hand.

Thanks for mentioning Child of Light. That's the first RPG in a while that has piqued my interest.

I was just given that for Christmas! It is a great set and travels well.

My in-laws have a really nice 50th anniversary edition that came with all sorts of extras, including a digital 2 minute timer.

I had heard about the double action cards, but not about the persistent character upgrades. I feel like everyone was losing their mind about that when Pathfinder the Card Game came out. Leave it to Vlaada to put it to fantastic use,

I enjoyed Crack! Crack! Lumberjack! when I played it. It has a bit more randomness to it than Jenga and thought the game overall benefited from that.
