Also, genuinely curious what the issue is with requiring background checks of all those involved? No sexual abuse history, no problem. But if a red flag arises then isn’t it best to remove that person from any situation anyways?

With the significant rise in the popularity of female wrestling I view this as more of a CYA-type move by USA sports at large, and wrestling is the guinea pig for the upcoming model that will be rolled out before the 2020 Olympics for the org at large. Or I could be entirely wrong, which is also very likely.
