Great run for an early rocker-armed Reynard CFC vs. all of those late-model Van Diemen's. I had a 87 SF and it was a joy to drive, very predictable, especially in the rain. Gratton sure is a rough track tho.

So much want. This sounds like the perfect open-wheel race car for enthusiasts without a crew of technicians! May have to buy one...

The Cosworth DFV F1 engine is readily available and much easier to operate than Indycar engines; full grids of (mostly) DFV powered F1 cars race in vintage events around the world. The DFR spec engine in the Benetton B188 isn't as common as a true DFV, but it travels in the same circles and is readily purchased and

My racing wants are simple. I would be quite happy with the Formula Vee, particularly since I have raced one before and know what I'd be getting.

Wouldn't they pretty much choose the same anyway? Fastest chooses first, second fastest second, etc?

maybe a cliched answer but as someone who has zero interest in motorsport, I absolutely loved Senna

Umm, 15 wins by McLaren in 1988, not by Senna. Senna did win the driver's championship, but he won 8 races to Prost's 7.

Was Nico being aggressive? Yes, but it was a completely legitimate move, they were side-by-side.

Lewis gave him no room — plain and simple. Nico would have either had to back off or go off track to avoid him. I don't believe Lewis' quote of Nico for one second. Lauda has no room for complaint when he told the commentator on the grid that they were going to "let them race. " Can't have it both ways, Buddy!

All due respect to sim racers (like myself), this guy's reaction is exactly the reason why driving a real car on a real track is galaxies beyond any kind of two dimensional exercise in mental mathematics and pattern recognition, which is what video racing is. I screamed into my helmet EXACTLY like this the first time

Camera mounted to helmet - Check

Holy Jumpin' Jesus! I just watched the actual video: Bill Wise! No wonder it works so good! Great engineer and a heck of a Formula Ford driver. Congrats, Bill! (If you're looking at this)

I don't care to read any of this on my favorite CAR site.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go back to daydreaming about what I'd do with a million dollars, a racetrack for a day, and an unlimited amount of tires.

Congrats!

Yup. I ended up 12th in the final heat (got bumped twice and passed by tons of drivers) even though I was running my best times (26.3).

It's always interesting to see aero focused racecars without their bodywork. Shows you just how much it adds to the car, and how small all the important mechanical bits can be packaged.

If your want to get technical, Tune to Win is required reading.
