My mom is half German, half Polish, so she gets an awesome tan and looks normal all year round. I got the German skin from her apparently, so I look like a ghoul.

When I was a young teen I volunteered at a convent. Mostly I played cards and painted with the ones who were still “coherent” (for lack of a better term), but sometimes I would have to visit and pray with the ones who weren’t... They cried and cried and seemed so tormented.. It’s really, really sad to think about now.

I personally get sick, personal, and vacation days. I think a lot of health care places do strictly PTO (paid time off). I’d rather have PTO that I can use however and whenever I please. At my job you have to have sick or personal time to call off. Vacation has to be scheduled. I will say they aren’t strict about it…

It’s very sad that his own beliefs are so ingrained in him and that he’s convinced himself that his wife would have felt the same way.

Like a shallow mud pond, basically. That’s the best way I can describe it. Just sitting there it’s probably shin-to-knee deep but if you’re “mudding” you’re creating ruts and sinking it deeper in the mud.

I feel like he’s probably always been this way and doesn’t plan on changing now that he’s old and can get away with it.

I used to eat all the cereal pieces out of the bowl first and save the marshmallows for last. Then I would eat the marshmallows in rainbow order. Hearts first, then pots-of-gold, then clovers, etc.

Being “average” height at 5’4”, I still feel too short for everything. I feel like everything is made for people taller than my height. I climb on shit to reach stuff I need. I am not going to be able to do this for the rest of my life. I'm not above carrying around a step stool.

I’m buying groceries. I usually shop on Sunday but I was lazy yesterday. I doubt I will get any good deals because the store I shop at is overpriced but conveniently located. I would buy them today whether it was Columbus day or not because I like food and we don’t have any.

Thinking about your toenail falling off makes me want to pass out and I’m not a squeamish person.
