There’s a long history of why baseball / softball are siloed and an effort over the years to make girls baseball more of a thing. But it’s due largely to apathy and more than that, money. MLB could easily help bring awareness to womens baseball tomorrow if it wanted to, there’s ample cash. 

On one hand, I appreciate one of these overpaid assholes earning their keep come hell or high water. On the flip side, abolish college sports. This is just going to be justification to kill the next kid with heat exhaustion because “coach didn’t make any excuses.”

Letting those teams into a World Cup and getting pummeled is still better than now where we never see them at all, and they can’t generate any real interest or funding in their poor countries because qualifying isn’t the same as getting in.

I used to love baseball and in general, I love the game itself. But the game is going to need a Twenty20 cricket revolution if it’s going to survive and not be horseracing in a few decades once the media rights boom bursts.
