For me, it was Andy Stankiewicz. I remember one game against the Nolan Ryan led Rangers in Texas where everyone struck out at least twice. Danny Tartabull had like the only hit which was a home run. But Andy never struck out. He fought every at bat and grounded out each time.

Definitely better than the Nets and Knicks.  

I had the opposite experience. I never played basketball besides the playground (and was one of the best who played there). I went to a D2 school and would sometimes play members of the basketball team. The point guard who came from France was not great and matched up well with him.
