I am a US resident, although Canadian citizen. Yes, there are flaws in the USA but I still think electric is the environmental way to go.

Don’t let perfect get in the way of better. Electric cars are more efficient than fossil cars and not all electricity comes from fossil fuels, especially in Europe but Canada too. Based on that, electric cars are superior for environmental (and other) factors.

Can an individual order the XL or XLT model, even if it is not intended for retail customers? Or is it actually restricted. I didn’t know a manufacturer would restrict sales of certain trim levels but maybe they do.
