I would add one caveat - if I’m reading something written in a profess capacity (i.e. Proof reading a grant application or journal submission), I will correct petty stuff. If you have a cranky reviewer, minor errors in word choice could be the turning point for a borderline research grants application.

But how awesome would it be to have it on the record - Arpaio at the mercy of the ACLU
I’m having the opposite but equal experience now - just moved to Boston after several years in Maryland. Holy shit, I hardly recognize my own voice now, I’ve gone so far south.
I’m from a part of the US south with a unique accent/dialect. My accent was never as strong as my mother’s, and hers was never as strong as her father’s. Mine has faded over time - people from the south don’t think I have an accent. In other parts of the US, people hear a lilt, but can’t place it. There are two things…
Every hotel mini bar I’ve seen in the past 5 years comes with a warning to not move/remove items if you don’t want to pay. Charges are automated based on weight sensors. You’re better off asking the hotel to provide an empty fridge, or storing things in an ice-packed mini cooler.
My perfect beach picnic - First, fly to Hawaii. Hop in the rental car and drive to your favorite beach. Stop at Foodland on the way and grab a couple of spam musubi, a tub of pineapple (toothpicks included!), and a bottle of water. Park you ass on the beach under the perfect sun, with the perfect temps, and perfect…
I have cable for the first time in years - it’s was internet plus basic cable (no DVR) was $30 less per month than internet alone, and I’m over giving Comcast extra money for less service. One month in and I still hardly watch any cable TV.
I used to think warnings/prohibitions about selling cigarettes to minors was because miners weren’t allowed to smoke due to the fire/explosion risk.
I use a monthly pass, so I will just exit, cross the street, and re-enter, but it’s still a pain in the ass. The technology definitely exists to allow exit/re-enter “transfers” on a cash vaLue smart card - DC has it for the Farragut North and West stations.
I just moved to Boston. I spent the first few weeks gushing about the T - it truly is light years better than Baltimore’s system (even the green line). Three weeks in and I’m cursing the MBTA every time I forget that I can’t switch platforms at Copley or which entrance I need to get to the correct platform at Park…
I sure he has/will, even if it’s never made public. Joe Biden is a class act, and he worked with McCain for decades in the senate.
In four years of regular subway use in Baltimore, I only saw 1 mouse. Never saw a rat in the subway. Saw them everywhere else, but never the subway.
I love the audience full of white people awkwardly imitating him as he imitates the awkward white person dance. (Yes, I know he doing “The Carlton”)
I don’t do smoothies, so all bananas in my freezer go into banana bread. I freeze the whole/unpeeled. When the m ready to bake, I take out the appropriate number of frozen bananas and lem thaw at room temp. Once thawed, I snip the end with kitchen shears and squeeze the partially liquified banana goo out like…
Yep. I wear tops that are essentially colorful bras. Or a one piece.
Gah - sorry! I mis-remembered an interview with Kris. Robert’s role on the OJ defense team definitely soured their relationship.
Robert Kardashian Sr. was one of OJ’s attorneys. He and OJ were very good friends. Kris and Nicole Brown Simpson were besties. Robert Sr.’s decision to defend OJ was one of the reason Kris left.
This is something I struggle with in Baltimore. I live at a busy intersection with a lot of bus and foot traffic. I hear a lot of arguments, but only once in four years saw one get physical. I hesitate to a call he cops because of the very real possibility that the cops will shoot or otherwise cause serious…
