Nah your first comment had a valid point and I do agree that VW potential endangered the lives of people anywhere the diesels were sold to an extent, I just think the pollution these put it out isn’t nearly as bad as people make it out to be. The fact that they had to lie was the shitty part, if they were more vocal

Gotta love Chevelle’s though, probably one of my favorite muscle cars besides the old Buick GSXs.

GM too, their Opel division built trucks and other things for Nazi Germany during the war. I’m not sure if this is true but afterwards I heard they even sued the US government for damages to their factories and won the case...

No they didn’t, there are hundreds of thousands of semi truck’s that pollute more in a day then the affected diesels pollute in a lifetime. You said 56,000 but how many of those were actually affected by air pollution and not water or how many of those were actually affected by the VW diesels? It’s impossible to

Get real, those 56,000 people dying a year aren’t just from VW diesels.

I’ve seen the Phaeton mentioned but everyone is forgetting the big one, the Passat W8. It had an interesting engine with 8 cylinders, an available manual, and was available in wagon or sedan form. Keeping up with the maintenance was different to say the least. They didn’t sell for shit. /thread

Just look at GM, people thought they were going to take a big hit but they’re doing better than ever now. Who knows.

Hey buddy!

And to think congressional hearings were already boring enough...

Ah didn’t know that, learned something new today. And polar bears are pretty cool so I could see why I guess.

The 500000 VWs isn’t going to make as big of an impact as you think it is, look at all the heavy duty diesel pickups and semi trucks that are in the US. That’s the stuff that puts out dangerous NOx levels not some puny 2.0l td.

You have to think though, 40x higher of what amount of NOx exactly? 40 times a small amount is still a small amount. It’s not like you see giant clouds of black smoke coming out of every tdi.

But think of the polar bears! It’s a gas that comes out of the tailpipe so it must melt the ice caps right? /s/

Damn it Tarvish you’re doing it wrong! Where’s an Aston Martin DB7 for the price of a new Kia Rio?!?! I demand answers!!!! :P I think this is one of the only sensible (possibly boring) why buy X you’ve ever done. Would buy 10/10 if I wasn’t broke.

I missunderstood him but he explained what he meant a little more and I get what he meant now. I wouldn’t call it fair but I definitely wouldn’t call it a Monica moment either.

I see your point. I read your article a little fast and probably should’ve read a little more. I thought you were trying to say they just added last gen JSW sales into the new Golf which probably would’ve been even more wrong then what your article was about lol.

I get what you’re trying to say now I guess, it makes sense. I don’t really see anything wrong with it because it’s not uncommon for companies to do this but I understand why a lot of people would. They’re technically not wrong, but you aren’t wrong either. It’s some good PR for them. And as a VW fan, I’ll admit they

I get what you’re trying to say, but they didn’t announce that JSW sales dropped to zero because they stopped making it period. BMW didn’t say the 1 series sales dropped when they replaced it with the 2 series even though they’re close to the same car did they. The vehicle that was the JSW was essentially replaced by

No, there’s nothing shady or dishonest about it at all. VW dropped the JSW and put it on the Golf MQB platform which means it’s a different vehicle than the Jetta except for some engines and transmissions. It’s not like they refreshed it and then called it a Golf, it is actually a Golf now.

It’s all good partner, it happens to the best of us. And yeah it’s really not that hard to do, would’ve taken him maybe 30 seconds at most. But hey just because VW hasn’t radically changed it means it’s the same right? What I find sad about this is the number of other posters who are just taking this misinformation as
