Only 1,000 Ft-Lbs? Can't even merge onto the highway with that.

Well that’s good news. With only 600 lb ft, I have found sometimes it’s hard to get up hills. That extra 400 lb ft should really help.

First word of the article. You probably skipped it, like I did, thinking it was a caption.

I’m glad to see this being said more. Employers have been pulling this shit for years. Back when I was a journalist (another underpaid shit job, btw, which is why I *was* and no longer *am* one) I’d get sent out on stories like that. Some factory bitching that they can’t find qualified workers.

Yep. Whenever someone complains, “No one wants to work,” I tell them to finish that sentence: “No one wants to work at the wage you want to pay.”

“Pay.. Dem... Mo... Money”

Counterpoint... The Fenders on U-Haul trailers are too high. Most people don’t know they are actually hinged so you can swing them down and get your doors open to get in/out of your car when it is loaded.

Corporate America is built on the philosophy of squeezing every last drop of blood from every stone in sight, deserved, legal, or otherwise. Paying ‘more’ for anything is antithetical to that.

I work with a guy from very rural Mississippi. The CEO was doing a rah-rah speech. At the end he talked about the biggest challenge being that we had lost people and had tons of positions to fill and was asking for suggestions.

Spoiler alert: if you cant afford to pay your workers a decent wage, you cant afford to be in business

Pretty much whenever I see a restaurant owner whining about "nobody wants to work! They all want handouts!" All the while they pay the waitstaff $2 an hour and depend on customers to handout tips just so their employees can make a living wage.

This. I constantly hear that bitching around here, especially at restaurants. Then I look what they want to pay their workers and its as cheap as they can get. I have asked owners why they pay so little and they say shit like thats all they can afford. Spoiler alert: if you cant afford to pay your workers a decent

Hate to break it to you bud, but you are a very small minority in the USA.

8/10 anytime I hear, “We can’t find anyone for this position!” it’s because the hours are shit, the work is shit, and the pay is shit.

Vacation =/= daily life. Totally different set of considerations.

Lol and some of us are not afraid to be responsible for ourselves instead of letting others make decisions for us.

“Worker shortage” is code for “low paying job.”

My grandfather had a brother in law that was a trucker. There have been generations of truck drivers from that family. Until recently.

You couldn’t draw me into OTR trucking on a bet. Unless you wanted me to be a freight salesman.

1st gear: It isn’t just truckers that are a problem. A lot of good blue color jobs were dominated by Boomers. Truckers, welders, machinists, electricians, plumbers, etc. The Boomers were (and still are) a HUGE generation. All these Boomers in these jobs drove down the wages for them. What used to be a mid-middle to
