The A/C compressor turns on in every car when you press the Defrost button. Whether or not you can turn it off while still in Defrost mode is manufacturer dependent.

Toyota

Yeah but....

What I see there is AWFUL damper tuning, inadequate roll stiffness and probably inadequate tire pressures or tire sidewall stiffness (so tire selection).

People who stance cars need a thorough head examination. What a POS.

Marketing Boss: Hey, our customer surveys of urban elites says we need a performance EV CUV
MBA 1: Oh, but Ford doesn’t have a reputation for being a “performance” brand like Porsche

Because analysts and day traders are morons that don’t know anything about product development.

There is a very efficient system for storage of painted cabs & beds called the ASRS, where they can pull a given cab/paint color on demand and do not have to paint exactly in sequence.

Porsche seemed to figure it out.

Tesla, so edgy

1st gear: Easy fix - get rid of telematics.

The halo. If that crash had happened 5+ years ago, there's a fairly high chance he'd have died.

Good luck with making it rigid enough to support the aero loads and still have the same airfoil shape.

Says a guy who doesn't and can't own one anyway. There are plenty of excellent handling cars that use Mac struts.

Best COTD

Good mention on door closing efforts. The other piece besides mass and air pressure evacuation is the door sealing. Seal margins are sized to find the best compromise between air/water sealing and closure efforts. It can be tricky. A trend these days is a triple sealed door, which allows for smaller margins but makes

Understood, but that means average torque from ~3000 rpm to 6000 rpm will be up 40+ lb-ft. It’ll have a lot more punch on road and track. Obviously the below is wheel torque, not at the crankshaft, but just shows how wide and deep that dip was. Original (13-16) vs 17, but both still have a massive dip.

Many large US unions are enormously corrupt as a culture. It shouldn’t be a surprise.

oh no, I had to rev a sports car like I’m racing it just to get it to keep up with traffic and mom’s hyundai elantra! tragic

Yes but if you take the exact same tire (brand, type) of the same overall diameter, but vary the wheel diameter while maintaining more or less the same section width, you’ll see a decrease in economy from the package with the larger wheel. You’re comparing a true street tire on the 20" wheel vs. an off-roady 17" tire
