The 2009 McLaren was not a good car. I’m not even a huge fan of Hamilton but he’s clearly in the top 5 to ever be in the sport. Equipment matters, but this isn’t a charity sport. He earned and worked his way into the best car.
Leasing makes sense for three types of people: 1) those who need to change cars every two to three years, 2) those who want cars that depreciate like crazy (BMW, Audi, Merc, etc), and 3) those looking at mid-level or nicer full size pick-up trucks for daily drivers, because their leases are cheap and the vehicles hold…
