At least they crashed an Ecoboost and not the GT.

Honda, Tesla? ;)
It was a lot of little things that some might consider silly, but no one or two big things. We have been spoiled by the west suburbs of Chicago and Chicago itself, so going to even some of the better suburbs was just kinda “meh”.
If you work in integration or as a systems engineer you don’t get stuck at that micro-level. I worked in Powertrain Integration and loved it, and would’ve gone to Engine Systems if I had decided to stay there. Those roles are a little less technical overall, but you learn so much.
Ford’s dress code was relaxed significantly from ‘14 on. Everyone wears jeans everyday.
Working at an OEM is very different, but your point is valid.
I grew up in the Chicago area. I worked in the industry for 4 years there, and then in ‘13 moved to Detroit (suburbs of it) to work at Ford. Last year I moved back home. I loved the work, but never really cared for SE Michigan, and neither did my wife. It’s a shame that it’s so centralized, because I miss it.
I like it, but there’s something not quite right about the proportions...
This is honestly not a car (or power level) I would honestly want to drive with a standard manual transmission. The lower the power, the more necessary the transmission is to making the car fun.
How big does it feel compared to say, a 15+ Mustang GT? The Mustang feels smaller the faster it goes.
I’m very well aware of the SCR systems put in place for NOx (I worked on the development and implementation of said systems at a truck OEM). Did you know that most of the things that can be done for improved fuel economy via engine calibration are also correlated with increased NOx output?
Exactly! Which means worse emissions for longer. I like and admire ambitious goals, but these regulations are short-sighted.
No, fuel economy matters more than most things to truck owners. What I am saying is that you’ll have a significant cost hike not due mostly to inflation. $1000 today is what $832 was 10 years ago. That accounts for the bulk of the price change of your example. In 2006 dollars, today’s top line Focus would be $19k.
Commercial trucks =/= passenger vehicles
Exactly. There are significant economic impacts to regulations like this, none of them good. Any fuel economy savings for the truck/fleet owner will be negated by the cost to purchase, operate and maintain one of these super efficient trucks. The cost will be passed onto the rest of us in the form of increased…
THIS. So much.
This is good trolling.
I know! My last was 190 hp and 3300 lbs, so...big change!
The rate at which my speedo can climb past 100 is still staggering to me. I’ve never owned a car this powerful before. Even cars like the STi and Golf R are very quick, quicker even, to 80 or so, but then drag kicks in and the sheer power required to continue that acceleration isn’t there. In the GT, it hardly feels…
