@laser beams: Well the Canadian Dollar is at 97.04 cents American today, so... $291 about? Enough for some pizza pockets.

Smells like bullshit to me, especially when they JUST started investigating them, and fired them 30 days before their first payment was due from the sales of Modern Warfare 2.

@5p.: Read through the legal documents, they have it somewhere here on Kotaku, it's pretty clear cut that Activision is just doing this to stop paying them royalties, their first check was due March 31st, they were fired March 1st with no reason given.

Wikipedia says

"facepalm"

@Friedhamster: Money for who though? They were both very successful on their own making tons of cash, it's not like Activision bought out Blizzard with the Billion dollar gaming crack pipe WOW still going strong.

I hope they sue their pants off, those two built that name from the ground up, what "insubordination" could they have caused? Why would Activision send guards to their offices? This is crazy, I guess when money's involved, and that dick Bobby Kotick treats everyone like his slaves stuff like this happens.

@siliconAvatar2: Haha, well done, damn Activision, I'm glad I haven't bought a game from them for a while.

That really sucks, although I haven't really played any of the modern warfare games, the departure of these two studio heads is crazy, and probably will follow with many of the studio leaving with them, if I was a hardware producer I would snap up those guys as soon as possible to work for a first party studio.

Do this, and genesis games for 99 cents each, and you'll kick the ass of the app store games. (at least for me!)

did this come out for the playstation as well?

Trying out that whole interactive drama thing Heavy Rain, playing some Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, and probably download and start Grandia.

@bmart008: except for really uncommon games they still sell those for more, those bastards, I'm not going to pay 70 dollars for Demon's Souls, or any game for that matter. I'll take my 60 dollar Uncharted 2's and God of War 3's though.

@sander_dutch: Well, they're certainly sold here for cheaper in Canada, every third party game is 69.99 and the first party ones are 59.99 despite the dollar only being 5 cents or so off the American one, This begs the question as to why I would ever buy third party games when there are so many great first party ones

So I'm guessing then first party titles make 34 dollars per new sale? Seeing as they don't have to pay a licensing fee to be on their own hardware, I wonder what other parts of the pie are effected by first party titles.

@vid3oman64: nope, they're pretty much the exact game that was released before on the PSone, no wonder playstation went with Blu-ray for this next model, that freedom must be nice without having to essentially double production costs with extra disks. Mind you though blu-ray disks are more expensive than DVDs aren't

Ahh, interesting, I've heard so much about this game, still waiting for Vagrant Story to come out here though (and I STILL need to beat ff7 and ff8, and do my mid terms....and watch the olympics... DAMN).

@vid3oman64: The final fantasy games are just as bad, 1.4 and 1.8 gigs respectively for 7 and 8

damn amazon not sending it to me on release day (grumble) + I should stop buying games and get a new hard-drive, my old skool 80 gig is being stretched further to the limit each month.
