You can be skeptical if you want, but the weight of all the evidence says long term weight loss is not possible for the vast majority of people. And that’s not really debatable. For whatever reason, you may be in that 5%. You may not be. I thought I was but within 5 years my body proved me to be one of the 95%. I know

“People have such short memories,” DuPont told me. “And Spacey is almost unrecognizable in a beard and glasses.”

A variety of reasons, but they all seem to come down to two things: 1. Set point theory (the idea that people have a range of 10-20 pounds where their body is happy and maintains without much effort. From the literature that exists, it appears that you can raise your set point but it’s very hard (or impossible) to

I don’t understand how she doesn’t age. Ever.

Jesus, dude. Definitely don’t tell “LGBT” what to think. Yikes and yuck.

Evidence-based medicine exists for a reason, and it is situations exactly like this, where doctors are coming to the wrong conclusion and making poor treatment decisions based on those wrong conclusions.

Doctors telling patients IS fatphobic. The weight of the evidence on weight loss shows that it’s sustainable for about 5% of the population. There is no intervention in medicine that would be called a success with a 5% success rate. So telling patients to do something that is a) impossible and b) almost guaranteed to

Dude-os.

It is so fucking weird that we start every sporting event with the national anthem. (I mean, it’s not, nationalism, war games, blah blah, but it’s so fucking weird!)

This kind of thinking is harmful. It makes it harder for people to reach out and get help. It makes it harder for those impacted by suicide to talk about. This is stigma in action. If you’re hoping to dissuade people, this is not the way to do it.

Journalists need to be both accurate and responsible. Avoiding certain language and details can literally help people stay alive and you’re against that?

They’re just conservative assholes.

Thank you!

Lordy. I’m home sick and I still have better things to do than gently troll an article about Legally Blonde 3.

And what do you base this on?

Oooh I hate those matte black cars. I don’t understand them and looking at them gives me the feeling of hearing nails on a chalkboard.

South-West BC winter is not what you think of as a Canadian winter. It’s similar to a Seattle winter but with more rain.

Vancouver is BEAUTIFUL in the summer. Beaches, lakes nearby, amazing food, mountains. It also rains for 6+ months of the year and is home to some of the starkest wealth inequality in the world. So...make of that what you will. Tourists love Vancouver. Non-rich people who live here miss what it used to be and wonder

I am deeply confused by the feral peacocks, as a Vancouverite.
