So we’ve got, what, one example of extremely flawed and extremely limited (by capitalistic forces) socialism and we’re declaring the whole thing a fail? Meanwhile capitalism kills people every single day, requires millions if not billions to live in abject poverty, and is ensuring that my (hypothetical) grandchildren

I mean, I’d much rather the working class have the power than the current system where like 10 uber rich white dudes have it.

Well, yes. We need something to replace capitalism. I’m not saying we should just live in anarchy. But as long as short term profit is prioritized over longterm, uh, survival, then we’re fucked.

It looks to me like her hair has been slicked back with gel (or whatever) but the rest of her hair is dry, which is definitely not how my hair looks after swimming, no matter how long ago I got out of the pool!

Maybe it’s time to think beyond non-capitalism=Soviet Union, hey?

Right. Which, as I’ve said further down the conversation, is good and right and of course I support the legalization and destigmatization of sex work and sex workers. But I fail to see how that would have anything to do with the incel movement, because they are all about gaining patriarchal status and even in a world

You know, socialism is not only realized through the immensely flawed Soviet model.

How interesting that the only alternative you can imagine to world-destroying late stage capitalism is the Soviet Union, which was a noted human rights disaster, and China, which is socialist in name only.

I keep wondering that too.

As I’ve said elsewhere, I worked as a medical office assistant when I was about 19/20 and one of our jobs was to chaperone when pelvic exams were happening. I don’t know that it’s the law, but it was framed to me as “prevent male doctors from being falsely accused” not “protect patients.”

Yeah, when I worked in a medical office many years ago, chaperoning was framed as “protecting male doctors from false accusations” not protecting female patients. So...

I love the iconography of a bikini, slicked back (but not wet?) hair, goggles, and heels, perched unnaturally on the door jam of a luxury vehicle. What on earth is the message here?

Unless and until we dismantle capitalism I don’t see how we end anywhere but in a Mad Maxian hellscape littered with chicken bones.

Uh, I’m going to toss a big ol’ [citation needed] at that claim.

I think that was a different asshole but honestly they all start to blur together at some point.

It was so bizarre! Like, where is there to go when someone entirely disavows science, medicine, and observable reality?

I feel like you’re actually talking about two different things that aren’t really related other than being somewhat related to sex.

On the one hand, I’m like, it’s their bodies! Go wild!

This is funny because you don’t understand the commenting section and would rather women die than have autonomy over their body. So funny.

What?
