Tell that to the girl who was raped by her step father and was pregnant with twins at the age of 9. Doctors tolg the girls mother that the pregnancy could very well kill her daughter, putting aside all psychological harm. The mother consented to an abortion for her child, and was promptly excommunicated by the RCC.

I often say/type: the pro-choice side *is* the pro-life side.

Savita Halappanavar's widower would most emphatically disagree.

Whatever, man. He's a male public figure who's using his fame as a platform to talk about/promote gender equality, a thing he really believes in. His whole show conveyed the earnest and sincere sentiment of "Listen, (male) guys, feminism is a legitimate thing". Like this dude:

Gawd, I knew I would find this in the comments. The fact that it's feminists who are criticizing him the most proves that, once again, feminists are feminism's worst enemies. We say we want allies but I guess by "allies", we mean "silent masochistic punching bags". It's kinda sad when you're just as disgusted by the

Last time I checked, being a feminist is about the doctrine advocating social, political, and all other rights of women equal to those of men. It says nothing about it being a girls club or anything like that

Did it really seem like I was trying to talk down to women? Did it really seem like that was my intention? Don't you think that, deep down in my heart, I was trying to say something interesting and positive — and funny? Do you really have to write some mean thing? Isn't there much worse shit going on? When a mother is forced to keep a pregnancy whether by societal pressure, law or religious dogma, whatever the initial intentions, the net effect is that is her health is put at risk. If the value system is such that there is a greater importance in keeping a pregnancy then that system imposes that risk on the mother,

It's pretty obvious - if we force women to carry all pregnancies to term, it'll end racism. It's just science.

"Pro-life" generally isn't pro-life because the life of the mother is valued less than the unborn. Pregnancy so significantly affects maternal morbidity and mortality that there is a whole medical specialty evolved to keeping the mother safe. It is unethical, from a medical perspective, not to give a choice. Pro-life

Battery Park, at night, by the water and illuminated by the Statue of Liberty. Only audience was rats and potential muggers, which is just the way I likes it.

To be fair, FERPA usually exists to protect student's privacy rather than to trump it. Like FERPA is why grades can't be shared with parents without a student's consent (so long as the kid is over 18) and it essentially bans all that public list of grades nonsense.

I nearly blew a gasket when she appeared on Parks. Wish she would've been around more!

And she gets to sing professionally, despite being terrible at singing, because she's Lucy Lawless.

Emma. NO.

We had a bit of a staff discussion about it this morning and I think what I'm stuck on is the fact that she didn't start going by "Lola" as an adult. I dunno. To each her own.

Still would.
