This is a good follow-up to what the person in the comments above said about how the show “used to be science fiction.” It’s not that Doctor Who was ever realistic, but it was *clever* and relied on solutions that used storytelling logic.
Rings of Power was a steaming pile of horse puckey - it shouldn’t even be mentioned in the same breath as Fallout.
That is definitely in keeping with their business ethics, or utter lack thereof.
I wonder if they told him they would cover the repair if he made a positive post.
I’m still hanging in there only under the hopes that someone learns from this garbage, plot-armored excuse for a Star Trek show. Recognizing Paramount/CBS needs programming otherwise no one would subscribe leaving little choice but to suffer or the Overlords will shelve any new Star Trek forever.
We’re only a couple episodes into the season, but one thing my wife pointed out is that everything is easy in Discovery. Transporters work from anywhere to anywhere. Michael and Saru are suddenly attacked, but good news, they can just wave their hands and they have phasers. Michael blows up their phasers to take out…
If that isn’t an apt metaphor for the entire company writ large, I’m not sure what is.
They will perform a song about eating goblins.
Those space babies in Doctor Who better not be trying to have musical numbers!
The Hunt for Gollum? Who is hunting him? Why? Because, well, we know where he ends up in the beginning of Lord of the Rings and we know where ends at the end of Lord of the Rings and we’ve seen where he was during The Hobbit, so...what, exactly, is the point of this?
The American populace is far sicker than it realizes... or can afford.
That means you need to carry less supplies per person, which leaves more room for other things. That kind of speed also extends the launch window and makes you much less dependent on the relative location of the two planets. It changes just about everything that makes the mission logistically difficult. It doesn’t…
Pour one out for the coin holder. I get it, no one uses coins anymore, but I have fond memories of playing around with satisfying spring-loaded action of inserting/removing coins in my dad’s 1990 Mustang 5.0.
The politics arm of the BBC has been distinctly not left-wing since the Tories got back into power. Prior to Brexit, Nigel Farage was a guest on shows like Question Time more often than every other MEP combined.
Let’s be honest, the jury’s out until this new season-sorry, “series”-is finished. In the meantime we have to consider the reality of modern, big budget streaming genre TV that renders old school, low budget “Dr. Who” as irrelevant as an Irwin Allen show. I’m sorry but that’s just reality kids. People expect Disney…
It’s been explained to me that the future of the BBC is hazy at best, and propping up Doctor Who “independently” would keep it from failing in the worst case scenario, but all this still reads like “Privatizing Doctor Who will keep costs down and mean better episodes for fans”
an “inexplicable force traps a family of four inside their house indefinitely. As both modern luxuries and life or death essentials begin to run out, the family must learn how to be resourceful to survive
It acknowledged the mere existence of sex so of course it had to be banned, unlike a little harmless violence.
the nation that nearly had to be cancelled because of half of Janet Jackson’s left nipple must be protected from outright filth like Bluey! What if it distracted children from shooting their teachers? Won’t someone think of the children??
