I'm all for freedom of style and whatnot but I have yet to see a white person really pull off cornrows in a way that didn't look utterly stupid or contrived. So yeah... stop.

"She Who Stays Woke, Kara Brown, Our Lady Of Killing It, Teller of Truths and Dispeller of Lies."
I rewatched the whole movie the other day, and dead-ass, the entire film is a metaphor for black cultural oppression in the US. And everyone kind of missed it. I think I want to write an article about it.
Wait for the followup story about a black woman getting told she needs to remove the braids she wears for being "severe."
Another great piece from She Who Stays Woke, Kara Brown, Our Lady Of Killing It, Teller of Truths and Dispeller of Lies.
Okay, as a white girl, let's get one thing straight: the only white people that wear cornrows and think they're cool are the ones that went to Jamaica for a week (but not, like, real Jamaica; Sandals Jamaica), and insist everyone needs to "chillax," and won't stop calling people "mon," for a month straight.
I remember once this white lady called me an urban youth which confused me because I grew up in Montgomery County, Maryland. Home of Lynda Carter and one of Hootie's Blowfish.
LOL, yes. Or this recent gem: Umm, I'm white and I have baby hairs!
"But, race wasn't even mentioned in the article! Jezebel is just trolling for page clicks!"
It's like the LA Times EIC saw the Shonda Rhimes story and said "Fuck that. We can be just as tone deaf and racist as you East Coast bastards can." and then went to the bathroom and sent the contents down to the printing press.
I totally understand because I have curly hair, too!
"A French braid is actually just a large cornrow."
I'm just patiently waiting to hear from the gaggle of Jez commenters who love to say cultural appropriation does not exist. Or better yet the people who will inevitably compare this to black women using relaxers.
Re: Bo Derek
It's also bullshit to reference a movie that came out 35 FUCKING YEARS AGO as a trend-setter TODAY.
Taylor Swift is the poster child for trying to damn hard.
For someone that goes by Erin Gloria Ryan you're awfully casual calling Kendrick by just his first name
