I appreciate the explanation. It makes me feel better that the man paid to know these rules apparently didn’t understand this either, nor did the professional baseball commentators.
Then why does the rule JRA posted say “with first, first and second,” instead of just first and second? I think that’s where my confusion is stemming from. That language makes it sound like the rule does apply with only one man on first.
