“it’s a marvel Max has not turned out to be an even bigger asshole than he is.”
It’s F1. The driver with the fastest car always wins, not the driver with the most talent. It’s been proven year after year for the last thirty+ years. Put Verstappen in a Williams and he’s be a moving pylon. His two championships have been due to fortune and fortune alone. Last year he was gifted track positioning in…
I like Max because he is an honest asshole.
All I can say is between Jos Verstappen (https://www.auto123.com/en/news/former-f1-driver-jos-verstappen-faces-jail-over-wife-assault/4598/) and Sophie Kumpen’s (Jos’s victim) behavior towards Pérez, it’s a marvel Max has not turned out to be an even bigger asshole than he is.
I actually agree with most of this article. I don’t think Phase 4 was bad, it just didn’t have much of a common thread keeping it together. Add in a pandemic, a ton of Disney+ content, and Marvel’s noble (but somewhat neutered) attempts at social commentary, and you get whatever Phase 4 was supposed to be.
While it will never be able to escape the weight of losing its main actor and choosing to soldier on anyways, I thought it told a really interesting story and filled out an already vibrant world and group of characters in one of the stronger recent MCU movies
I found myself losing all my misgivings about her as the movie went on honestly. she’s definitely said some dumb shit and I hope she chooses to educate herself instead of doubling down on it, but purely in terms of the art her performance in the movie was pretty incredible. I also wasn’t expecting how dark they would…
First of all, they’re not fictional characters.
I had mixed feelings about this episode. I enjoyed watching it, but afterwards I started thinking abotu how it portrayed Sydney as a loyal servant who just existed to serve and was happy with that. There’s no problem with taking pride in your work, but the real Sydney had a family and left the Duchess of Windsor’s…
Ending is definitely up to interpretation, though I wouldn’t have been mad had the final scene been the 4 of them driving off into the sunset eating Popeye’s. But my take on it was Darius was in the real world. The episode actually gives you a lot of backstory about Darius that we haven’t gotten before. The girl…
I thought the movie was great. Letitia Wright was awesome and a great new Black Panther, can’t to see more of Riri Williams and I thought the action was great.
They made the right decision by not recasting.
I can understand why actual human beings who knew the guy didn’t want to recast him. The PR issues that may have existed aside, the casting director even said that they had a hard time imagining going through that process again so soon after they lost someone that most didn’t even know were sick. I don’t think Coogler…
michael b jordan will be black panther in a few years after they clear up the multiverse stuff. they’re having their cake and eating it too.
Even if Shuri gets the torch, SHE believes in science, even if her actor doesn’t.
I just disagree. Boseman was a screen icon possessed of unusual charisma and grace, and this was widely recognized before his passing. There’s a reason Boseman is the first unsnapped face we see walking through the portal in Endgame. People aren’t just grading him up as a performer because he died young. With respect…
The big thing is he became an icon in the black community and it blew up way beyond just him being a comic character.
A gimmick commentor? In this economy?
“...though he gives an indisputably star-making turn, it still feels like a villain—even one as well-reasoned as him—shouldn’t be the most important, or interesting, character in this hero’s tale.”
Audiences will delight as this panther of a movie slinks through the night! Take note, Blake Edwards, this is how you make a sequel after a star has passed. Coogler doesn’t need to resort to deleted scenes to make this kitty purr! Although the missus’ wouldn’t shut up about her confusion of Angela Basset/Shirley…
