This sort of piece is something called an “editorial.” It has less to do with reporting gathered facts than expressing the opinions of a publication or writer on an important social topic. These “editorials” have a pretty long history in American journalism.

And did you think that was bad? If so, do you also think this is bad? If you don’t, why not?

I think what these players are trying to express is that our country, as represented by the flag/anthem, is not living up to its ideals. That is, in contrast to the Constitution’s promise of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for all, a lot of people are suffering disparate and often deadly levels of physical

Class actions are designed as much to deter bad behavior as they are to compensate wronged individuals. So even though the benefit to the class members in many of these lawsuits seem negligible, they can have long term benefits to the public at large. I’m thinking specifically of the Ticketmaster fees litigation,

Absolutely true for the main stage, but the side stages and parades are still great, though not worth the price for locals who can see most of the same artists in bars and clubs for cheap/free year-round.

A douche bag looks at 40.

Jerk may have been too strong. I was really criticizing your snarky tone and the fact that it seemed completely unwarranted to me. Though of course in this text medium, everything ultimately comes down to word choice, right?

If I shot on my own net and sunk a 3-pointer, would it be 3 points for my opponent?

the little packets of mustard they give you with your Chinese takeout (and no one ever uses)

I don’t necessarily disagree with the point you made in your second post and have repeated in your reply to me, i.e., the connection between the two is not sufficient to warrant importing the British accents. However, in your original post you pretty clearly faulted the OP for saying GoT was “based on,” as opposed to

I thinks it’s perfectly accurate to say that GoT is “based on” the War of the Roses. The fight between the Seven Kingdoms that mirrors that war serves as the base for the story between the characters (which, admittedly, involves fantastic creatures, magical powers, etc.). That is, the story of the War of the Roses is

??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Well done.

Not just the teams, but the developers/construction companies hold an awful lot of sway in local governments. Shockingly, politicians will often put the interests of those moneyed folks over those of their constituents.

No “screw you” intended in my previous comment, and I don’t ascribe to you the ridiculous position of wanting a worse player so you can avoid a positional controversy. I just wanted to point out that it is a ridiculous position.

So you’re saying teams with bad quarterbacks would prefer to have a very shitty, as opposed to only kinda shitty, backup in order to avoid a QB controversy? That seems like a bit of a stretch if you ask me. If you can’t handle reporters asking questions about your team, you shouldn’t be an NFL head coach, GM, etc..

So I assume you’re not at all concerned about terrorism in the US, what with the tiny numbers of deaths each year?

Best fried bar snack in my opinion (and I really like fried bar snacks). Spears can be great too; you just have to start with them extra-firm lest they get too soggy.

Isn’t that just a standard “chicken sandwich” that you’d get at any fast food place but in sub form? Is there some fundamental difference I’m missing beside the shape of the chicken pieces and the bread? I guess you get more fried surface area with with fingers, but that’s about the only difference I see.
