Oh Fuck YES. Every word of this.
Oh Fuck YES. Every word of this.
Sorry, wasn’t meaning to guess your gender: when I said ‘we’ I meant it as ‘us women’ (I am one) rather than ‘you and me and us women’. And I agree; serious gamers don’t tend to care about this sort of thing. But the screamers get the attention (as always).
You’re missing the point.
You say you’re supportive of working mothers but your comments really don’t reflect that.
I think though that we have to accept that pumping is not a solution, because for many mums it just doesn’t work. I was never able to get more than a few mls out with pumping, even when I could/was successfully breastfeeding my babies. And from what I hear I am hardly in the minority.
Yeah I agree; we don’t get parity and they *still* fucking moan.
How is it ‘politics’ to include female characters on an equal footing with male characters though? Male isn’t the default (though I know men believe it is). Anyone who thinks like that should have their game taken away for being such a whinging moron.
There are thousands and thousands of games where you either can’t choose a female character or at least can’t choose one with equal or better skills than the male characters. We women are forced by circumstance to play as men so fucking often. So I have no sympathy for anyone ‘forced’ to play as a woman.
This is not going to be popular but - Beyonce. I don’t understand how she gets all the love for being just as fake as every other singer out there.
OMFG this! And savvy but not smart is bang on the money.
And strawberries are delicious. For crying out loud, put your needles into something like kale. Bastard/s.
Could be of the ‘right’ age but non-American. I’m not aiming this at you, but it always amuses me when Americans assume the rest of the world knows their cultural references... and gets snippy when we don’t :)
I agree though I’d go one step further: expecting or encouraging working mothers to pump breast milk is IMO another example of pressuring mums to do it all. Formula is a perfectly good alternative.
I felt the same, and pumping never worked for me anyway; I just couldn’t get any milk out. Apparently that’s not at all uncommon BTW which is why I hate the idea that women can/should ‘just pump’. But I also live in a country that fetishises breastfeeding which angers me, when we have a perfectly good alternative…
It astounds me that as a country, you guys accept the idea that you have to register as the supporter of a certain party! It makes this kind of thing - voter repression - ridiculously easy ( as we are seeing here). Why do you do that? Surely this has to be the first thing to overhaul.
I think that’s *exactly* what she’s doing. Making it difficult for women to get an education is a feature, not a bug.
Actually I do wonder if this is all part of a larger plan; discouraging women from getting an education. After all, DeVos and her ilk want to see women as nothing more than baby makers...
I’m going to buy that - thanks for the recommendation!
There was, but not just to America. It wasn’t the fact they turned up there (ok, well, it was a little; we’re more than just LOTR scenery dammit!) it was more the flavour of how it was written in the book. Plus the story just seemed stale at that point.
Yes! And not only did he draw Naomi as white, he also drew her as blonde and *thin*. She’s not built the same as Serena but in a picture I saw - where Serena is giving her a side hug - both women have similarly wide shoulders. And like everyone else is saying; his portrayal of Serena was obviously racist but his…
