Sarah Palin is a dead ringer for an old, abusive boss of mine and as such whenever I see her I get a strong desire to shank her. Luckily, Sarah is as much of a bitch as my boss was, so I’m not embarrassed by said impulse.

You’re not the only one. So much of the American way of doing things strikes the rest of us as insane: political judges is just one of those many, many things.

Good Lord I can’t star you enough. What’s happened is, women have changed, men have not.

Parent of 4 here, who rarely ate out as a child herself (because people just didn’t, when I was a kid - and if they did, they didn’t take their children!)

Exactly! A lot of this article reads as though the client is expected to be the expert.

Half of these are contradictory though. Know what you want beforehand, also know as much as a stylist does (!) so that you’re not asking for something that won’t suit your hair or face, but *don’t* ever question the stylist? The whole reason I’m coming to you in the first place is because you’re the expert, who knows

“Also, this word “faith” is antithetical to science. Faith says “I won’t even attempt to seek evidence because I’ve decided in my own head what is true”. It’s bullshit.”

Religion sort of is the enemy of science though. Religion is “there is an answer for everything, you don’t need to know it, just have faith that God know’s it”. Whereas science is “there’s an answer for everything, and if you’re lucky and work hard you can find it! Good luck!”

The *first* lesson in science class, and it should be repeated at regular intervals going forward, should be the *scientific* definition of the word ‘theory’ and how it differs from casual usage.

Funny, I had this same dilemma two nights ago. I rarely get to eat out, so I wasn’t sure of the etiquette of asking. We were at a steak and beer kind of place for a colleague’s farewell and I wanted the lamb but it came with gnocchi, and I *hate* gnocchi. I asked the waitress if it would be possible to have it

You’ve got to be kidding me? What kind of backward country are you people living in, that you think it’s OK to charge a (albeit criminal) bystander with murder? The only person who committed murder is the person who pulled the trigger. Blaming everyone else is ridiculous.

Being hired in the first place. Being promoted. I don’t want to dox myself by revealing my profession, but if we were say, talking about being the one of only two female writer in a writer’s room full of men, what I am saying is that I would not be hired to be/invited to be in that room in the first place. And not to

You’re not the first person to say that believing attractiveness is part of it makes the case that the harassment is the *women’s* fault, which I find a very odd idea; no-one has said that or is saying it - if anything, saying that attractiveness plays a part blames the *men*, not the women.

“Hearing stories about unwanted male attention that supposedly EVERYONE gets just makes me feel even more unnatural.”

You reiterated the trope that it’s not about attractiveness. It *is*.

She isn’t implying anyone ‘deserved it’! Like her, I have never experienced sexual harassment, and I can only assume that it’s because of how ugly I am. That makes sense, as a hypothesis. And saying “this sisn’t happen to me” doesn’t equal “so if it happened to you, it’s your fault” in any universe. And can we stop

No, look, sorry, but it *is* about having a certain amount of attractiveness. I am butt ugly and fat to boot. I have never been sexually harassed or cat called. I have had plenty of comments directed at me in relation to my appearance, but no, never harassed. What annoys me is posters who insist that women are

Thanks to reproductive assistance and the way it’s carried out in other countries (multiple embryos implanted) people ask “is it natural?” of twin and other multiple parents all the time. Some people just don’t think, no matter what term you use.

One suburb over from where I live has this kind of thing happening. It’s lower working class to working class, and so houses are comparatively cheap there and it’s quite close to the CBD as the crow flies. So many middle class families are buying there and then sending their kids to the private schools in the posher

FFS can we stop with this bullshit about pretty people not getting hired or being discriminated against? God, the amount of jobs I’ve missed out on - or missed out on promotions within - because I’m an uggo are legion.
