A flippant remark? On Jezebel?! Perish the thought!

My wife’s best friend has black curly hair and is short and roundish, so she gets mistaken for Latino all the time, but she’s some sort of Euro-mutt. Apparently, multiple Latinos have berated her for not understanding them when they speak Spanish to her.

I recently found out that the guy who played Ed Chigliak on Northern Exposure isn’t native at all, which made me sad.

It’s like Naveen Andrews. He’s Anglo-Indian but keeps getting cast as an Arab. I wouldn’t blame anyone for thinking he’s an Arab because he’s played one in many major roles.

Louis CK is not really Latino. His father’s mother is Mexican, but his grandfather is Hungarian, his mother is Irish-American and he was born in D.C. He did live in Mexico City for a while, but I don’t think having one Mexican grandmother is enough to call him a Latino actor.

Maybe it’s just me, but the whole tone of this article felt like it was saying, “how dare she think he’s Latino! He’s Filipino! Duh!”
