“You have no idea what “white savior” means, do you?”
“Based on” is the key word here. The Shire’s is based on rural England. Gotham is based on Detroit. Hell, Aslan is based on God. Just because somethings based on a thing, doesn’t make it that thing. Thats like saying Affleck cant play Batman because he’s from California.
“White Dude goes to foreign land and becomes better at martial arts than any of the natives” Since its an alternate dimension, just being human would make it some kinda racist trope then. Its only proper if a human isn’t cast, but a resident of said alternate dimension.
I dunno why fans wouldn’t be behind that opening. That IS how it started. And Kings said thats the first line of the entire story he ever had, and expanded on that. I couldn’t imagine it starting any other way.
There is also the entire part of Detta hating both of them and being instantly and constantly mistrustful because they’re white. Im sure they can work that around to the same reactions to Eddie, and treating Roland the same way a lot of people treated black people who turned on eachother for better treatment and such.…
Since they can’t get a middle-aged Clint Eastwood, Im just happy with a good actor in the part.
The time would be easy to know, for then mankind would have become as The Gods Of Egypt; free and wild and beyond good and evil, with laws and morals thrown aside and all men shouting and killing and reveling in joy. Then The Gods Of Egypt would teach them new ways to shout and kill and revel and enjoy themselves, and…
Exactly! Lying about the Ra’s stuff directly effected all of them. They were the ones in danger, being tricked, running in circles trying to stop/save him when there was already a plan in place that, knowing about it, would have saved them a lot of damn time, emotions and actual injury.
I could understand being initially upset, guy tells me he found out hes got a secret kid he hasn’t mentioned, and hes an old hat at keeping crap from me, the natural reaction is being pissed.
Its been a while for me as well xD I could only remember one at least said he wouldn’t.
Actually, that could totally be true. In the original book, he realizes that they’re just alternate realities, not anyone messing with the system, and he was never going to actually kill the guy he was predicted to. And though /some/ people were imprisoned based on those, the vast majority weren’t, and he consciously…
A Scanner Darkly is an amazing book, and contains probably my favorite line ever written “entering the phone booth, he did a phone thing”. I was immediately taken out of the story and pictured a very tired PKD after hours of writing, just wanting to go to bed, thinking “ugh, they know what I mean”.
Dear god, one of them got out of Tumblr. I thought they contained this sort of thing. Like, Jesus, we’re not thankful someones insanely posting angry internet comments because freaking Fox Mulder might have described us wrong to a were-lizard. Its gotten to the point where I don’t even wonder if I should be offended,…
I love the idea of Amityville, as a story (if its done well...), but I can’t imagine anyone who would be into it actually believing it anymore. If you go farther than watching the movie, you should immedatly discover the “true story” bit is amateur BS at best.
That would make sense if the Indian characters entire thing wasn’t being incapable of communicating in anyway with women. Its hard to get a date when you literally have to whisper into a friends ear if you want to say something to a women. Theres a lot of awful things about the show, but the one with women specific…
How is Butch Cassedy and the Sundance Kid not top for Freezeframe??
Do people think she looked the same in the Teen Titans TV show in the pre-52 comics? The only things that have really changed is that they took the two tiny strips of what looked like suspenders that had been body painted on, and they added shoulder armor.
They turned this modest, sexless Starfire into something totally unfriendly for little girls. I mean, have you seen the new costume? They took away the spin-suspenders. Those two small bands of fabric were the only thing protecting her from sexulization.
“Although Africa has a number of smaller wizarding schools (for advice on locating these, see introductory paragraph)”
Its always a bit depressing when you find out your hyperbole is real. Hang in there, my friend.
