The characters been around for 70 years, Heath did an amazing job, but we can’t just say “he did amazing now nobody can ever play this character again”, and compare any version of the Joker for decades to come. Yeah he was epic, but he was one version of a long established character.

I think what people are missing is that when the Joker originally came out in the 40s the whole zoot suit thing was popular fashion, they were expensive luxury clothes. And I think having a purple one was as close to punk rock as you could get in the 40s. The Joker was, originally, hip, fashionable and modern.
