The 996 system in my car is pure mechanical and uses a viscous fluid in the front diff to push as much as 40% up there. In practice, particularly with today’s tire availability, it simply doesn’t do much. The 997 system to include the 997.1 I believe is electronically controlled. I don’t think it can put 100% forward

2009-2015? Yeah, this didn’t impact owners of previous year cars at all did it ? <roll eyes>

What model years exactly? I have a 2K6 that so far hasn’t been covered by their various offers. However if anyone thinks the value hasn’t taken a hit think again - few want to touch a TDi these days. Wouldn’t be so bad if truly stupid stuff like the HEADLNER falling apart wasn’t occuring! I’m to the point where I

I’ll bet it was “driven”...

Supra made more power than they were advertised to make. Supra could make MUCH more power pretty easily. Doubling the advertised power - at the wheels - was as easy as proper fueling, turbo and exhaust, and an intercooler. BTDT!

Same power? Oooooh, you mean stock right? My Supra was making 720RWHP on good gas with a completely stock motor including cams - in fact the cams were why it wasn’t making more power. While the C5 and Supra may have started out close in power off the showroom floor no one I know left the Supra stock for long :)

The Getrag 6spd was damn near bulletproof. Mine handled 800FWHP with ease once a good triple disk was installed. Shifts like a dream too!

2JZGE have nearly identical guts if you’re talking pre-VVTi and supposedly the head flows better than the GTE too. It doesn’t take a ton to make power with them, not at all.

Funny you mention the 240Z - I have a wrecked TT 6spd Supra (sob) and a 240Z in my garage awaiting a marriage! My car was killed and the insurance company screwed me but the drivetrain wil live again in my Z if I ever get the time - it’s a perfect union. I have an 8.8 setup for it and a subframe to mount the 2JZGTE -

Honestly the 997 AWD isn’t that sophisticated from what I’ve seen. It’s certainly better than the 996's mechanical setup though! The 997 front diff bolts into the 996 and can be activated with a binary signal, some of the faster 996 run it, but it doesn’t seem very variable :( Many delete the front diff on the 996 and

Machining the bore? Do sleeves not drop in on these the way they do others?

LSx baby!

996 have already started to appreciate - the turbo models anyway. If you’ve got a GT2 holy crap the prices are rocketing...

I stand by my statement, an aluminum headed 302 compared to an LS motor isn’t significantly different weight wise. Likewise, owners of the cars I’ve spoken to enjoyed them a great deal with 302 motors and had no issues with the handling. Perhaps you need to try the same comparison with an LS motored Miata before you

The weight difference between an aluminum headed HO 302 and an LSx motor isn’t nearly as much as you make it out to be. The LS is a better choice but having known owners of the 302 variant I can tell you they had zero complaints about the handling and loved the power.

It’s a Mustang lol. They don’t do so well leaving car shows ;)

Actually I have a set of “retrofits” that include an entire assembly. The bulbs are the EXACT same as what’s used in my 911 with Xenon HID. Same wattage ballasts and all. They have a nice metal shield that drops down for low beam and pulls up via solenoid for high beam. The cutoff is razor sharp and it’s a DOT legal

It doesn’t help that we have large numbers of asshats who drive down the road with highbeams ON all the damn time. I can drive down the highway and pick out which morons are doing this just because their lights are 2x as bright as everyone around them - it’s awful! Why is no one ticketing them?!

There’s actually a good HID retrofit that you can do. Mirimoto makes some HID modules, not just bulbs, that work GREAT and the cutoff is razor sharp. Bought my stuff from TheRetroFitSource and while it was a hassle unsealing the lenses it was worth it. Holler if you want to give it a shot! I have a 99 RSTi...

Also avoid OnStar. Federally mandated tire pressure sensors? Ooops... This is more than infotainment systems and if someone has REALLY targeted you they will simply plug into the CAN BUS and make a few additions. On some cars the BUS is accessible without entering the vehicle.
