I'm pondering an electric fryer, Masterbuilt makes a few. I like fried turkey enough I want to be able to do it year round!

WHOA!!! Don’t use water to set the oil level! Friends and I tried that and after noting the mark we found the fryer had a mark for the oil level significantly LOWER. Puzzled we looked up the expansion rates for oil vs water when heated, oil expands way more! Don’t use the water level or you could have a real disaster,

Ha! First time I've seen that explained so well, thank you! Happy to have a Mezger :-)

Most reliable water cooled? The Mezger engines didn't have this issue and are a different design. Found in the turbo models of those years. They did have glued in coolant fittings that fail however...

You realize that part isn't fed by pressurized oil right? It's a sealed bearing...

Roll side by side and cross the lights at about 60MPH even with one another. As soon as you cross the lights it’s go time. Some will try to lay back and pass at 60MPH right at the lights to have momentum and get a better start but done fairly it’s side by side. No horn honking or anything so it’s a little easier to

Seems to me all the car snobs showed up here! Glad they didn’t make the event :-) I was supposed to attend one at Pocono but the change in date screwed me, hopefully next time!

Rolling start of the half mile that they hit side by side at about 60mph. Roll racing to save driveline parts more or less although at these power levels it’s still dicey. It’s still a half mile race it’s just not from a dig is all.

Also the plastic windows in the cockpit, Perspex, takes that single beam and refracts it inside to a blinding mass of light that would make any stoned ELO lover proud. Not good and very disorienting. As a side note, friend is a small plane pilot who has only recently gotten a license - he's already been hit in PA by

I honestly don't get the beef with the cockpit, what wrong with it? I agree the stereo is junk but with white gauges, silver rings on the dials, and an aftermarket stereo I think mine looks pretty good. I like the gauge area and there's leather everywhere not plastic.. What do you find so poor? I'll have to see if I

I’m told my 996 Mezger isn’t even available as a crate motor anymore. Guys swap in rods when they begin to scare 600whp as they tend to bend rather than risk what's become a $20k+ motor to replace. A 3.8 Caymen sounds awesome but geez these motors are expensive and it's not like a Subaru boxer where you can find many

Color me surprised. I had an exhaust shipped from Canada, the tips were quite thick. The box arrived in decent shape, no holes, one of the tips looked like a chisel had been used on the edge. The builder, Unobtanium, was dumbfounded. I shipped it back, he fixed it, and shipped it again with aluminum tube covering the

Watched it with a friend in a bar with a BIG screen. He confirmed that it was just a bunch of brown uniforms running around and that he couldn’t tell WTF was going on for the entire game. How stupid was the NFL for this?

Guys are also swapping LSx motors into them - not for the faint of heart! The GT4 looks really sweet but way too expensive for my taste. The Caymen is light, it handles well, I guess you mostly just have to be satisfied with what it is and it’s a really nice car. Honestly I think I might choose an Elise over one if I

Sixspeed forums have a thread specifically addressing maintenance. My car has needed oil changes and filters. It’s going to need tires soon, I need an alignment apparently. I replaced the ignition switch and the headlight switch, I need to have coolant fittings pinned if the motor is ever dropped. Coolant change

996 turbo are more reasonable still and are pretty much the same underneath as the 997.1. They all have their fair share of quirks though so do some research for sure. Rennlist and the sixspeed forums for sure. Up to about 600whp costs aren't too bad but rise steeply after that figure...

If you can get the VIN you can run the sticker on the six speed forums to check out the equipment differences. Some owners are more aware of the market than others and you just have to wait them out. If they bought new they're probably in shock at the depreciation...

I've met more than a few women men and boys who would disagree. I'll never forget seeing a kid skid to a stop on his bike and whip out his phone for a picture. If I'd had time I'd have given him a ride! Apparently there are many who don't agree, different strokes for different folks. Oh, one of the women in my life

I'm 6ft2 and fit easily with the seat forward some, that said I can also fit in a Miata but with the top down I look over the windshield lol. Sit in one, without a sunroof if possible.

I own a 996 turbo, very much tempted by the Cayman! Apparently there's some HP locked up you can get easily but with no turbo you won't get too much further. Love the look though and they apparently handle well. Just can't quite justify another Porsche in the household :(
