Well aware of which engine this is - I own one. The coolant issue is a biggie, don’t kid yourself. There are multiple small coolant fittings GLUED into place on this engine - and the 997 series too BTW, not sure about the newest generation. When one of these fails it slicks the track behind you, your rear wheels, and

Just to be clear - the coolant hoses I’m talking about are aluminum fittings that are GLUED into the engine by Porsche. Over time the glue turns to dust and at often inopportune times they eject themselves and barf the entire coolant load quickly. On track this usually collects other cars and has hurt a few 996 too.

I think you'll find that long strip above where the glovebox is supposed to be (2001 doesn't have one) is a good bit harder to replace than popping it off judging from what I've read of people trying to do so.

For the cost of a trans buy a different car instead.

You mean it didn’t have the IMS issue, it has it’s fair share of other issues. 6spd cars have accumulator issues unless upgraded to GT2 spec, cooling pipe issues (glue, really?), and some other small things. Biggest issue is those coolant pipes as some tracks won’t let you on them without having fixed it or running

A red interior automatic car with wood trim? Yeah not so much. Go check prices on GT2 of this era or an X50. For that matter decently done base turbo cars are putting down over 700whp with ease and more if you put rods in them. It's a different crowd that wants these over the Mustang.

It's not stick-on and swapping it is a royal bitch in places. Many of the interior parts are shared with other Porsche so seeing the ugliest comments is amusing. I wouldn't touch it in red and hate the wood personally but black looks awesome.

Happened to me a few weeks ago. Car had been fine, felt fine when I left the house, halfway to work I’m on the side of the road with a jack as car whiz by. I’d have been VERY happy to have had my car warn me in time to get someplace safer or air up the tire. Backup cameras are coming for the same reason - cheap and

Now try doing it in a half mile, also - measure in MPH not KMH. The acceleration is WAY different, you aren’t given miles to get up to that speed and the power level to accelerate to that speed in that space is far far higher.

Pretty much correct except few JZ motors run boost that low :) Octane ends up being the limiter for these cars but figure at least 1.2BAR for street duty - a BAR being 14.7PSI. 2BAR on good gas is no biggie with a stock longblock 2JZ but the wimpy cams become an issue - solutions exist. Figure over 700WHP or so on

Evidence speaks otherwise as to how simple this is. Since I’m pretty sure you’ve not done it I’m not going to take your word for it - to say the least.

Maybe it was GPS and the update rate was low? It certainly seemed to move out, I’d love to see an outside view of that run for sure.

Sequential shifted, pull one way to go up, another to go down. No H-pattern to contend with and you must go through each gear to get to the next, no skipping, and on many cars you still have to clutch it. This is what I’ve been told at least butt hat shifter is too rich for my blood and would be a PITA on the street

Considering the number of cars who have rolled multiple times, the car that ended up in a lake recently, and other craziness like sunroofs blowing out at high speed yeah it IS apparently kinda’ tricky to accelerate to 200MPH+ like that. It’s a 1500WHP capable car, I think the term monster can be fairly applied. Sheesh!

Trans is also an issue, apparently on long high accel runs all the lubricant heads to the back and it eats bearings. A pump and spraybar up front is needed to solve this issue.

Depends on how much room you have. Guys have found some interesting things happen with these cars at high speeds running mile events. That nice sunroof for instance collapses down and REALLY screws the aero as you get up around 185 or so! To do it in the mile takes a good bit more than a tune but with say 3 miles of

I remember this car and some of the stories but what got home built cars banned? This car seemed pretty well built...

My understanding is they WANT it to dent, the motor can’t be too close to the surface so that when one of them lands on it they get cushioned. Honestly I think I’d be happiest if people stopped hitting them?

What happened to the hood ornament reg? I still see them!

Focus RS - AWD and as much power as the Mustang?
