It could be had with a stick, there's zero fabrication. The 6spd trans however costs a mint, the 5spd a bit less but won't hold the same power. Pits aren't legal in many areas and for good reason. You can become trapped or overcome by fumes too easily. Best to stick with a lift, raise the roof if need be - I did and haven't regretted it!
Meh, mine was $500 when a friend upgraded his shop lift. It's a little clunky but I can hardly bitch considering the price! Be aware some of these will want 3phase power and that converters will lose you lifting power. Mine can still lift the cars I need it to though!
This! And if I've pulled a wheel I lay it under the car such that if things go way wrong the wheel is what it lands on. I've never had a car fall but I sure don't want to be under one if it happens! I ALWAYS a use the locks on my lift too as a hydraulic failure would also be "bad"....
