That would be one VERY poorly tuned diesel. Smoke is excess fuel, my TDI doesn't smoke.

Too much hair lol
I heard one of these beasts take off at a Corvette show in Carlisle. Sounded like a giant vacuum cleaner - was awesome :-)
Biggest problem was people modified the cars while leaving the speed density engine management alone or adding on bullshit doodads to trick the computer. the solution should have been to put in a proper stand-alone engine management system that was tuned right or something mass air based. Mazda shot themselves in the…
I've owned an FD RX7 that was on it's 3rd motor and I sold it for a Supra that I heavily tuned because I was afraid the rotary would blow when I began fiddling with it. That said there's one HUGE thing you didn't mention that absolutely KILLED these cars!
I also try REALLY hard not to buy from dealers. Not always possible but when buying used you have a little more leeway. So far, knock on wood, I've not gotten screwed. If it's an A-B car for commuting then life is easier, something special - that takes work to find and often some flexability. I'm hanging onto the TDI…
Funny, you remember their name and probably send friends there too. Why aren't other dealers this smart?
No sorry the Tesla model sounds fine to me. Walk in, know the price, buy the car, walk out. It might be nice to have Tesla take a trade-in but not having ever done that after being offered prices so low I laughed I can probably skip that part too and sell my used car for what *I* feel is a fair price.
I'll bet you remember that when you need service too. i know that when I and a girlfriend bought our new cars the dealer she was directed to (buyer's service purchase) was a far bigger bunch of assholes than the group I was sent to. Guess which car dealership does ALL of the service work? Yup, the work I cannot do on…
I bought one of the new series back in 2K6 when used ones cost almost as much as new due to fuel prices. In fact both i and my girlfriend bought them new back then. Our secret to cut through the bullshit was UBS buyers service. Now on some cars this might not work well and certainly not on specialized cars like a…
Don't feel too badly. CNN has lost it's way and become as bad as FAUX news. I've started listening and watching BBC simply to get a news feed that doesn't feel like every sentence needs an exclamation point at the end. I've heard several stories that were quite fascinating and were simply a good display of facts given…
Pssst! Datsun 240Z! ;)
I'm not going to address your comments one by one but removing, disconnecting, or compromising support braces is BAD juju - "main support braces" in particular sounds like something I might want left on my car and worked around.
A good motor but not one I'd rate too highly unless you had one of the ultra-rare heads that were crossflow. Being forced to mount the induction right over the exhaust where it was sure to bake really killed this one for me. Mine was swapped with a V8 and now soon with a 2JZ-GTE.
Nah, for high WHP the 2JZ took far fewer internal mods - I'd want the JZ but the RB is a damned close second. Bavarian motors are just fine but when I want replacement parts I'd like to keep all my kidneys which pretty much rules those out in my mind.
Oh it's been done alright :-) In a Camaro at least, a Mustang wouldn't be any more toruble I'd bet. Not sure I'd call it sensible even though I love the 2JZ for the reasons you mentioned.
If you look around you can find stories of aluminum wheels doing the same and I've actually seen aftermarket wheels with "spokes" cracked - it's scary! This is one reason why good wheels cost so much...
Ah I see, so rather than admit you're wrong you get whiny and angry and beg me to stop? Your story keeps changing over and over, it's amusing to watch you squirm. Your reading comprehension is poor and your lack of knowledge equally sad. You provided incorrect information, I corrected you, you imagined I was talking…
At NO point did I say exactly SHIT about your cost estimates so I think that perhaps it's YOU who needs to learn to read. I only took issue with your bullshit about needing headgaskets, internals, and other crap. Had you the experience you claim and some reading comprehension you might have understood that. You stated…
I just told you about my engine that lasted fine on over a BAR of boost, making nearly 600WHP on pump gas, for over two years driven daily and I only parked it because it was totaled through no fault of my own. Get it through your head that this is NOT unreliable, that the stock pistons, rods, and head gasket work…
