I’d posit there are a higher percentage of jeeps/trucks/suvs that get driven offroad, even if just a trail to a campsite, then there are sports cars driven on the track.

problem on my 04 Jetta as well.  same thing- the fabric glued onto cardboard in the hollowed out part of the door let go.

Maybe he’s buying it as a parts car for his other Ghibli?

so is Ram releasing the 6th gen now? why not update the “classic” to the 5th gen truck? all the tooling is already done, lines set up, etc.  they could then tear down the 4th gen line and set it up to build 6th gen.  I’d assume the 5th gen had some worthwhile upgrades to the 4th gen.

a lot of people on the interwebs say AWD provides no benefit and to just use snow tires. But it’s hard to believe that snow tires AND AWD isn’t better than RWD and snow tires. how can 4 wheels with traction be the same or worse than 2 wheels with traction? I’m from CA Bay Area so this is a legit question and I have no

the problem is what other bmws you can get for $3k.  E39 5ers are right in that price range.  528i’s and 530i’s seem like they’d be way better for a project.

this right here is why I voted NP. If you look at it as a daily runabout instead of an investment piece, you’d realize a little plug and weather proofing fixes the wing holes, some lexol and elbow grease will make the interior presentable, and a cheap cat back will fix the exhaust. Add in basic maintenance for a SBC

are you sure it didn’t just break down and needed to be towed away?

Sales Engineers and Solutions Architects are definitely a thing. I used to be one.

interesting view point, I’d think rope breaking would happen FAR FAR less often and be far less dangerous then a vehicle sliding too far into the water. A broken chain might be really dangerous, but a broken light weight 3/4in poly rope doesn’t sound quite as dangerous.

I’ve always wondered why there wasn’t a post at the top of the ramp somewhere that one could tie a rope or a winch line, to prevent a vehicle from accidentally sliding too deep into the water... It seems like most ramp fail videos I’ve seen, have given people quite a bit of time to realize the car is about to go in

It’ll probably be a while to get PTS going for any of the pure EV companies- they dont have the scale yet. in fact there are very few companies that actually do PTS. as for the palette, if there’s enough demand, theyll probably add colors. I suspect enough people are just wrapping their cars- i’ve been seeing a lot of

that’s what the sticker pack is for.

from the ones I’ve seen, they look pretty luxurious in the traditional sense. what options are you looking for?

the specific criteria for each of these 4 areas are different for everyone. like, #1, for me, the criteria is that any repairs can’t be 3 times the value of the car. so if you pick a car that maintains its value very well, or even appreciates, then cost of repairs kind of becomes relative. #2, if your need is for

I have a 997.1 that’s basically been doing the same job for me for the last 7 years.

after adding insurance and Turo’s fee, its almost never cheaper to get Turo at least for normal cars. The only upside to Turo is you can get lots of different cars that rental companies don’t rent.

really wanna end traffic stops? require remote fuel control valves be installed in every vehicle in order to be registered- no grandfathering. Maybe even state funded. Instead of police chasing, they look at their computer and press on the pictogram on their Tesla-like proximity app that represents the vehicle that

uh, how do you ensure that the driver is the registered owner?  if a car is stolen and the ticket is delivered to the registered owner, do they pay?  Clearly you thought through your hot take pretty thoroughly...

For pete’s sake, 3 of these are notoriously expensive to maintain.  The G37 would be the enthusiast’s choice I think- my old boss had one and it was comfy and rapid.  IMO, the LS is too big and thirsty for a daily.  My choice would be an ES350.
