I have a friend who’s also looking for something similar.  CX-30 and Sportage were at the top of my list of recommendations...

huh? my 997.1 C2S doesn’t have a problem filling up to 100% without resorting to handle trickery.

I don’t mind the design of the interior so much- I drove my sister’s and it was the rattles and shakes and bad fit of stuff on a car with 25k miles that bugged me. My wife on the other hand hated it enough that we pulled our deposit that I waited in line on the very first day to place once we saw one in the flesh.

i checked out a polestar and I wasn’t impressed enough to want it over a Model 3. I think the model 3 is a shoddily put together car and there are a lot of usability tradeoffs in the name of Elon’s whims plus I think the guy might actually be the anti-Christ but the value proposition is pretty damn good.

charging infra isn’t the advantage it once was since everyone is moving to NACS.  at least superchargers tend to usually work.

nice disturbed reference there...

2000lbs?  you driving a Lotus Elise?  hahaha!!!

I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t need a gun (not that I’m against them) - Aim 5000lb projectile. Press gas to floor. ...... Safety. Dash cam has you covered for self-defense.

I get you, it sucks not to be able to choose.  when I got out of college, the cars I chose didn’t even offer autos- E30 M3 and SVT Mustang Cobra.  But once i started to commute to silicon valley, and I could afford to have a weekend car, I learned quick to use the right tool for the job.

I did it for years in my manual 2002 jetta but since the commute grind didn’t really provide any manual joy, I always thought an auto was more calming.  that’s just me though.

Im gonna go with any manual transmission in a commuter car if you have to drive in traffic...

to be fair, that ZF was actually pretty good.

the day is young.  they may report the Tesla as stolen in a couple weeks and the mom could be in the slammer...

they need to be taken off the road?  that’s ridiculous.  people who are willing to learn how to live with EVs (and there are a lot of them, especially here in CA) should have the option to.  In fact enough people are willing enough to make the Model Y and 3 among the best selling cars in the country.

youre making a huge assumption that they know how to use navigation.  A vast number of people have no idea how - a lot of people don’t need it because they stay local their whole lives.

my mom would have had the exact same experience if Hertz forced her into a Tesla.

Totally possible.  And totally reasonable IMO

My guess is she doesnt NEED the car, but is wealthy enough to go after it on principle, even if in the end, she gets nothing after paying for lawyers.  The pay off will be in sticking it to the other wealthy individual who has to give her the car.  And they will be giving her the car...

there’s nothing that says she has to keep it.  most people would put it up for sale for $75k, pay the taxes and pocket the $45k to use on whatever they want.

NA Miata was exactly what I had in mind for this list, but power and speed don’t exclusively a sports car make
