finally retiring my hulking suv suburban tank and buying a minivan with all the bells and whistles. handles better + comfier ride (!), double the gas mileage, more room.

this is the right answer.
Like I said, we don’t know all the facts - after looking at the video a couple times, its seems more likely the lethal blow was smashing into something (it actually looks like a vehicle), and then having the tumbling (several hundred pound) bike slam into him at a pretty high speed. One of those two impacts seem to…
I think it’s pretty clear that death of the suspect was not ever the intention (or maybe after investigation and the cop’s history, maybe it was). The point is we don’t have enough information here to make even an armchair judgement. your argument falls flat because you’re arguing that we should kill for simple…
How would this be different from a PIT? The chances are significant the suspect would die from a car accident yet police legally do it anyways. Seems like a split second decision that ended up with a bad outcome for the suspect. I think we need more context before we judge the actions of the police officer.
me too. because I don’t just drive to and from work. I run errands, take kids to practice, go to the grocery etc. I won’t feel good about range unless it’s around 200 miles either, and that makes it just an around town car. If i want to take trips, I’d want 250-300 miles at least.
more links some with higher degradation levels: https://cleantechnica.com/2022/11/01/3-years-80000-miles-with-my-tesla-model-3-battery-degradation-maintenance-costs-etc/
here’s where I remember the numbers https://electrek.co/2018/07/17/tesla-model-s-holds-up-400000-miles-3-years/
100 mile range has been pretty well proven to be low enough to create range anxiety. 150-200 mile range at least.
Actually Model S batteries seem to be only losing about 5-7% of their range over the course of 10 years or so. theres a fair bit of content out there bearing this out. This isn’t a Leaf... If you had an 85D with 265miles of range, you’d probably still have a useful 250miles of range today and old tech or not, 85Ds…
I don’t know anything about the shipping business, I’m a software architect. I have a buddy who is a high level dude in the global logistics business that I could probably ask. But logically, logistics requires resources. if the resources are scarce, no matter how much money you have won’t make it better. I would…
I didn’t say Porsche was cheaper, just that they’re pretty expensive. Mustangs are like $1100. Corvettes are $1595. Just because you’re paying less per unit and signing bigger contracts doesn’t make the physical logistics easier.
to be fair, Porsches generally cost A LOT more than Fords, they charge pretty high delivery charges, and their volume is like 5% of Ford’s so their logistics are probably a lot easier to deal with.
my aunt has a pristine 89 560SL. It wallows but damn if it doesn’t look good doing it.
good point :)
that looks bigger than a RAV4/CRV. And R1S for $78k to start is $8k more and 50 miles less range and just 33 more hp. Plus Acura is going to be able to stand behind this into the future. I hope Rivian can too, but it’s not a foregone conclusion.
strangely enough, it’s the “boring” designs that transform into “ageless”
when people stop buying them...
no backseat for the kids...
Really, no one picked an E63 or an M5?
