Eh. Forced-induction engines need to be tuned properly if they're going to improve mileage. More air = more fuel, unless otherwise specified, and performance-oriented engines are going to run significantly richer than economy-minded ones.
Pedantic point: This was the second generation of the HCH. The first one didn't have nearly as many problems. Mine has 143K miles, and my dad's has 240K. I get 50mpg on the highway, still, and he gets 48.
